From time to time, letters from Paris, from the French bank "OVNI", which collects information from all over the world about the most extraordinary, inexplicable natural phenomena, come to the address of Kazhydromet, addressed to hydrologist Boris Smerdov. What is it that so interested the Parisian sensation lovers?

In this event, an employee of Kazhydromet Boris Afanasyevich Smerdov sees a certain special meaning: for decades at the Kazakh Scientific Research Hydrometeorological Institute (now KazNIIMOSK) he was studying the level of the Aral Sea, and only once, in 1990, the institute suddenly had unspent funds. Nonsense!

We decided to order aerial photography of the lower reaches of the Syr Darya on them - the studies are necessary, but so expensive that the experienced hydrologist did not dare to think about them. Designating the research area, he, as they say, marked the coastal zone of the Aral Sea just in case. And when the shooting materials were brought, it was in this place that a large number of completely incomprehensible lines were discovered.

“Some looked like stripes, ruts, random scratches,” Smerdov said, “others resembled furrows left by some giant bulldozer. They are from 2-5 to 20-50 meters wide, some up to hundreds of meters, and several kilometers long. The figures have "clean" corners, as if they were drawn by some kind of mechanism.

For example, the mark shown in this image resembles the block letter “C”. There are many lines (modules) repeating in shape, which in a slightly modified form are located about 20 square kilometers. And the whole area with mysterious lines is about 500 square kilometers. The sea level by that time had dropped by 15 meters, and these lines under a thin layer of water or on a dried pound became clearly visible.

- These mysterious signs could not be simple defects in photographic film?

- This is ruled out because aerial photography is done in such a way that one frame overlaps another by about 60 percent. If any element seemed suspicious, it can be checked immediately.

- Does the bottom of the Aral Sea contain similar signs in other places?

- Our colleagues from the Central Asian Research Hydrometeorological Institute (Tashkent) flew over the Small Aral and also saw incomprehensible lines at the bottom of the sea.

- And the "underwater kingdom" of our other seas does not contain anything similar to what was found at the bottom of the Aral Sea?

- At the bottom of the Caspian Sea, lines were also found in the form of furrows 10 and more meters wide, up to several kilometers long. Scientists assume that they were left by ice floes: they seemed to slide into the sea or were dragged there by the wind. But we must take into account that the North Caspian has an almost horizontal bottom surface, therefore, ice floes weighing many hundreds and even thousands of tons would simply not budge on such a small slope.

- I have heard suggestions that an older human civilization could have left the Aral traces …

- This could not be, because the age of the Aral Sea is about 10 thousand years. And these furrows were formed several tens or hundreds of years ago: they are located on silty-sandy deposits that are short-lived. And if they had been applied several tens of thousands of years ago, they would have simply been carried over by the remains of plant and animal organisms, by sand.

- So who left mysterious signs at the bottom of the Aral Sea after all?

- In my opinion, the solution lies in the structure of two signs located on these 20 square kilometers. Modules or grooves repeating in shape have mathematically precise patterns of location. This property excludes their natural origin. They are not created by nature. But man could not leave them either - because of their enormous size, complex and precise shape, as well as the great depth of the sea where they are located.

In addition, these lines do not make any sense - they are not defensive, irrigation, or religious buildings. But to create them, it was necessary to do a tremendous job. I calculated that to draw such a number of lines and furrows it would take 90 thousand vehicles with a carrying capacity of 20 tons and 25 years of continuous operation. Who, why and when could have done all this, especially under water? … One thing is clear - they were created by a civilization possessing incomparably more powerful technology and a more accurate control system for its movement.

- Couldn't our earthly technology leave them when people tried to save the Aral?

- But we do not have such a technique that could leave furrows up to a hundred meters wide! And even a bulldozer with a grasp of 10 meters or more is very difficult to imagine. And why on earth to drive it under water, producing such huge energy costs? I asked the designer of underwater equipment: is there, at least the military, any mechanisms that could leave such furrows on the seabed - the answer is no.

- What do you think these line letters want to tell us!

- If we take the individual elements of these modules and trace how they change along the bottom surface, it turns out that from south to north they decrease in length, and from west to east they change the angle of inclination. This may be an indication of some points that are up to several tens of kilometers away. And what is the meaning of all this, we still have to figure it out. But the fact that this is not a random phenomenon is unambiguous. As well as the fact that the mysterious lines at the bottom of the Aral Sea are of extraterrestrial origin.

Today there are more questions than answers. I managed to do only research, as scientists say, "first approximation", because, apart from a ruler, pencil and knowledge, I have nothing. For a more accurate and detailed study of the Aral Sea phenomenon, a computer analysis is required, carried out according to special programs.

Hydrologist Smerdov published unusual results of aerial photography of the Aral bottom in the newspaper "Science of Kazakhstan". A publication about these unique finds in the Izvestia newspaper. Quite by accident, she became known to the Parisian bank "OVNI", which collects information from all over the world about all kinds of supernatural, anomalous, inexplicable phenomena. The letter sent by President Frank Marie to the address: "Kazakhstan, Almaty, Academy of Sciences, Aral Sea, Boris Smerdov", miraculously found the addressee. The bank announced a report to UNESCO that messages from an extraterrestrial civilization were found at the bottom of the Aral Sea, and they were very interested in them.

The Kazakh scientist was offered to write a book. They also offered to send their own employee to conduct joint research, but the costs of his stay here had to be borne. But what could a simple hydrologist, though extremely enthusiastic about his discovery, have done? By that time, KazNIGMI "underwent" optimization, and Boris Afanasyevich was left without work at all.

Today, much of that unique information has been destroyed: when the dam connecting the Small Aral with the sea burst, a powerful stream passed through these places. The initial data remained on the negatives in the aerial photo-geodetic enterprise, but they are not available to scientists. And in the scientific community there is no particular interest in the strange lines that have drawn the bottom of the Aral Sea. And one researcher is unable to comprehend, generalize and give a clue to all this unusual, colossal amount of information …
