There are over 200,000 unsolved murders in the United States, some of which took place over 80 years ago. It is curious that thanks to new technologies, even such hangers have a chance to open today. Who needs it? First of all, to the relatives of the victims. True, sometimes it happens the other way around: the killer is known, but who his victims were - no. The Allenstown Four Mystery, also known as the Bear Creek Murder, is one such case.
In 1985, a hunter came across a steel barrel containing the bodies of two people: a woman aged 23-33 and a girl aged 5-11. A hunter was chasing a deer in an area adjacent to New Hampshire, in the vicinity of Bear Creek Park. There is a trailer park near those places, but the police were unable to find anyone who could even guess where the barrel of corpses came from.
The case was closed - no evidence, no leads - and it was only opened 15 years later, in 2000, when the police suddenly found a second barrel, and there were two more bodies in it: this time two girls - 1-3 and 2-4 years old.

Unfortunately, the bodies were in such a state that it was impossible to accurately name the age or even the exact year of death. Investigators believe the first murder took place around 1977 and the second in 1985. The gruesome find itself worried the Allenstown community, but that was just the beginning. The police found that the woman and the girl had been beaten to death; unfortunately, nothing could be said about the bodies of the second children.
DNA analysis showed that at least two of the three children found in the barrels are related to the woman who was found with them. But what exactly is not known. She could be their mother, aunt, or even an older sister. Because of this, the police assumed that all four were killed by one of their male relatives, for example, the husband of the deceased woman. It looks very much like domestic violence!
In recent years, new data and technologies have emerged. Forensic scientists were able to analyze the tissues of the bodies and find out if the chemical compounds in their bodies matched those found in the environment of Allenstown. Why was it necessary? This helped to confirm that all four had lived in the area for at least three months. The police also updated sketches of the victims. Thanks to new computer technologies, their features have become clearer, the condition of their hair and teeth has become clear. But this did not help, and the case cooled down again.

Suddenly in 2017, the authorities announced a new breakthrough. A California woman who had long been abandoned by her father when she was left alone in a trailer park in 1985, learned that her mother's name was Denise Boden. She disappeared in 1981 in New Hampshire with one of her daughters, who was then six months old. At the time, she was dating a man named Bob Evans, who looked after the child for several more years, but then left her. For this, as well as for child molestation, he was sent to prison, where, however, he did not stay long then - in 1990 he was released.
Later, Bob Evans went to prison for the murder of another woman from California, his common-law wife, Yongsun Jun. Then he lived under the name Larry Vanner. In 2010, the killer died in custody. This did not stop the police from taking his DNA to find out if he had anything to do with the corpses in the barrels.
And what? Bob Evans turned out to be the father of one of the dead girls. The police suggested that Bob had a scheme: he invented a fake identity for himself, declared that he was a single father, thus attracting a new victim - most often a woman with a child. He seduced children and killed their mother. He had many pseudonyms, but his real name is Terry Peder Rasmussen.
In total, the chameleon serial killer has allegedly six murders, but most likely there are many more. And, probably, it was he who was guilty of the death of a woman and three girls, whose identities, unfortunately, are now impossible to establish.
