But, many came to their senses and grabbed the last thread of preserving themselves. We are now like people living in a foreign land, who for a long time had no connection with the Motherland. We grab any information about the past. We cling to customs with all our might and longingly understand that with incredible speed the last generation of those who were for us the connecting link between the KIND memory and us “Ivans who do not remember kinship” are leaving with incredible speed. For me, this link was my grandmother.
Much has survived in my family. I found a time when four generations came together. My family still has photographs of "great" and "great". And we still remember who they were. Let the ancestral home remained somewhere for many kilometers, but the roots and many traditions have survived.
