A story from our reader Yuri Arefiev. “The Legend of the Stone. It was told to me by my grandfather Yuri Arefiev. He comes from the village of Ustye - Strelka, which is at the confluence of the Sestra and Dubna rivers in the Taldom district of the Moscow region.
His family had a distant mowing. In a floodplain, low-lying place, somewhere not far from the Sestra River. And a stone lay on the mowing. A huge granite boulder. In four village huts the size of a three-storey house. In 1932 - 1935, when they were digging the channel to them. Moscow, then the route of the canal just passed through the mowing place. A huge stone thwarted the canal builders. And it was blown up … Between Meldino and the "Big Volga" there was this somewhere, and now there is a river-canal.
Pictured is a giant rock in Britain. Maybe there is a similar one near Moscow too …
This information has not yet been confirmed by documents or anyone else. Only there is information from the Dubna City Forum that a stone of similar size lies somewhere in the Volga River, not far from Dubna, but rarely appears on the surface, as it is almost hidden by water."
