One of the most mysterious and mythical tribes, about which there are many legends and which no one has ever seen, are the Druids.

The most plausible description of this people is found among the ancient Celts. According to their stories, priests, sorcerers, healers, advisers to the leaders belonged to the druids. They practiced medicine, astronomy, and performed ritual ceremonies. It was a separate, exalted caste. People always went to them for advice. Scientists suggest that the druids could exchange experience and knowledge with the ancient Slavic tribes.

Druids are the only ones, according to legend, who managed to find out the future. They did this using runes. Initially, the runes were written symbols of the ancient Germanic peoples.

According to the legend of the Scandinavians, in order to obtain the runes, the god Odin sacrificed himself by pinning himself with a spear to a tree through his left eye. This very tree has received the name "Tree of Life" (ash). While Odin was nailed to a tree, he broke three large and six small branches. Branches fell beside him on the bloody ground, forming an unprecedented bizarre pattern. It was then that God Odin saw all 24 runes in this pattern.

Before the adoption of Christianity, the ancient Slavic tribes also used the runic alphabet for their writing. Druids, on the other hand, drew each individual rune on pebbles or pieces of bark and used runes not only in writing, but also in many magical rites. As in ancient times, and now, sorcerers refer to each rune as a generator of energy with its own "I".

In modern fortune telling, various sets of runes are used, but more often this is a variant of 24 or 25 items. Traditionally, they are made of stone or a certain type of wood, which also has an influence on the outcome of fortune-telling. It is believed that the power of the magical effect of the runes makes it possible to use all kinds of rays of energy emanating from the five cosmic spheres. In order to receive this energy, it is important to take the correct original posture and turn your thoughts to "absorb" these rays of energy. This happens under the influence of special sounds, the druids called them "gald" ("magic song").

The runes experienced their rebirth at the end of the 19th century. At this time, a German occultist named von List began to study runes not as an alphabet, but as magical symbols. He succeeded in compiling the value of their magical effects. Thanks to the popularity of von List himself, fortune telling on the runes quickly spread throughout Europe and became considered one of the most reliable ways to find out your future.

Runes were also used in a negative way. In particular, the Nazis depicted them as symbols on various orders or uniforms. There are many rumors about Adolf Hitler's attitude to such mystical objects and belief in them.

According to the canons, a person who decides to engage in fortune telling on the runes must make for himself a set of runes from a material close to him (stone, wood). After making, the runes must be consecrated with a special rite, and then stored in a bag sewn by the owner from natural material. Runes cannot be passed on to anyone, they should only have one owner. You should treat a set of runes with respect, greet and say goodbye to them at each address, “wake up” them in a certain way. The owner's attitude to their runes will determine the reliability with which they will predict the future.

The process of fortune telling on the runes has hardly changed after hundreds of years. It is important to choose the correct time and date, which positively affects the outcome of fortune-telling. To do this, you need to take a bag with a personal set of runes. Having renounced vain thoughts and deeds, one should ask one question that interests most of all. Next, on a light clean canvas, you need to lay out three runes one by one. You need to think and treat the runes with respect. The position of each rune dropped upside down changes its meaning to the opposite. Two adjacent runes affect each other's meaning. If the answer did not suit the fortuneteller, then do not repeat. It is likely that if the runes did not give an answer, then it must be so.

In addition to the runes, the druids had fortune-telling, very similar to the runic one: 9 identical branches (sticks) were stained in the blood of animals sacrificed. After that, the druid scattered them on a white canvas and tried to examine the resulting pattern. This pattern served as an answer to a question asked by the druid.

Working with runes was not limited to predicting the future. According to the canons, the druids believed that the runes were capable of influencing fate, giving a person's character certain features, and protecting him. To protect the runes, they were depicted on clothing using embroidery, worn as a pendant around the neck. As a gift, a newborn could be presented with a charm made of wood with the image of the rune of power).

In addition to the ability to predict the future, runes are believed to have healing properties, heal the body and soul, soothe and give physical and mental strength. Fortune telling on the runes is only a small part of the magical knowledge that the ancient druids fully owned, and which have come down to us.
