Almost every tenth person who was in a near-death state claimed that he was accompanied by unusual sensations and he was in the afterlife. Most of these people talked about leaving the body and light at the end of the tunnel.

Scientists from the University of Belgium studied the narratives of 150 patients who experienced clinical death. Most patients experienced three sensations: rest, movement through the tunnel, and the light at the end of it. There were also people who claimed that they left their own body and met dead relatives or angels.
The researchers also faced an interesting situation. In most patients, the order of sensations was different. That is, only 1/4 of them first left the body, and then floated through the tunnel. For 4 years, American scientists have studied people who have died clinically due to a heart attack. The researchers spoke with both patients and medical personnel who were trying to bring the former back to life.

After examining all the data, scientists came to an interesting conclusion. Most people could almost accurately convey the doctors' conversations during the rescue procedure. A third of the respondents said that time seemed to start flowing more slowly, or even stopped altogether. American patients, like Belgian patients, experienced a sense of peace and saw the light in the tunnel.
These findings may suggest that the brain continues to function after death.
Canadian researchers decided to support the research of American colleagues and examined the brains of patients who were disconnected from life support. The study showed that the brain continued to work when the body showed no signs of life. There was no reaction to light, no heartbeat, and so on.

Researchers from Israel explained the moment with the "carrying of life before the eyes." At the time of death, the heart stops pumping blood and supplying oxygen to the brain. Because of this, the brain experiences oxygen deprivation. The moment with "life in front of your eyes" occurs due to the activity of the prefrontal and parietal lobes of the brain, which are enriched with blood and oxygen for the longest time.
