With the help of digital technologies, programmers intend to fight pornography on the Internet.

Adult connoisseurs of feminine charms have nothing to worry about yet. Scientists from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil) have developed their know-how to protect against the temptation of immature children's minds. Catholic programmers reasoned quite logically: today the Internet becomes available to children from a very early age. And very often the Web slips users with content that is clearly not intended for them - for example, pornographic pictures. The researchers cite the following figures: 93.2% of underage boys and 62.1% of girls have seen porn on the Internet. At the same time, 8 out of 10 interviewed adolescents stated that the probability of accidental acquaintance with pictures for adults is too high on the Internet (let's take their word for it that banal curiosity has nothing to do with it). Existing control technologies are usuallycompletely block access to a resource containing nude photos or porn. But the total ban only fuels interest in the forbidden fruit, especially since it is not the slightest difficulty for a modern advanced child to bypass the blockage.

- In our opinion, censorship should not be intrusive. We have developed a new type of filtering for obscene content,”says Catholic University professor Rodrigo Barrosh. - Our algorithm does not censor the entire image, but only those parts of the body that can lead a person into temptation. Simply put, we taught artificial intelligence (AI) to recognize photographs of naked women and make them look completely innocent by dressing them in bikinis.

Catholic scholars have developed a new type of filtering for obscene content on the Internet.

The results of their experiments Barrosh and his colleagues presented at the International Conference on Neural Networks in Rio de Janeiro. To train a neural network (this is a type of artificial intelligence that is able to improve itself by performing certain tasks), Brazilian scientists used several thousand photographs of women. First, the mathematical model analyzed the cards of completely naked girls. Then she looked at the girls in bikinis and learned to discern how the "libertines" differ from the "shy ones." This was necessary for the AI to learn to highlight the configuration of the piquant areas of the female body, which must be covered with a swimsuit.

However, artificial intelligence was not a very strict censor. In some cases, computer-drawn bikinis clearly did not cover all the ladies' charms. Some young ladies had panties down, in other cases, the neural network could not properly put on a bra on the beauties.

- We are still at the very beginning of the journey and while the algorithm does not work very reliably, - reassures Professor Barrosh, - But, I think, in the future, our solution will be built into Internet browsers to protect the audience from unwanted content.

But there is one more nuance. The neural network has learned not only to dress naked "naughty girls" in bikinis, but also vice versa - to take off swimsuits from respectable ladies. Moreover, artificial intelligence does much better to undress women than to dress (we cannot show this, but take our word for it). Of course, you can understand him. But researchers at a Catholic university fear their technology could be used by cyber criminals to create fake pornography. Moreover, not only "stars" and celebrities will fall under the distribution. Any girl who posted her photo from a beach vacation on a social network runs the risk that computer hooligans can make compromising evidence from an innocent card. Scientists claim that they did not include in the program the function of undressing people at all, this is just a side effect of the new technology. Which once again provesthat work in the field of artificial intelligence must be approached with extreme caution.
