An extensive network of underground tunnels can be found in various parts of the world. Similar systems are found in Pakistan and on Easter Island, Altai and even in the hot Sahara Desert. However, most often underground labyrinths of natural and artificial origin can be found in South America.
The attention of researchers of paranormal phenomena was awarded to the Chinkanas Caves, which are located near the city of Cuzco (Peru). These underground labyrinths are notorious among the locals. Chinkanas caves were first discussed in the 16th century. The underground labyrinths were discovered by Jesuit priests who sought to introduce the natives to their faith.
The Chinkanas complex consists of an interweaving of streets that go deep into the bowels of the Andes. Ancient legends of the Peruvian Indians tell that people-snakes live in gloomy underground passages - the children of Quetzalcoatl, one of the main deities of the Aztec pantheon. It is believed that people-snakes guard countless treasures, in pursuit of which many treasure hunters lost their lives. In the 20th century alone, several dozen adventurers perished in the Chinkanas caves. Few of the survivors were unable to tell what happened to them, as they lost their minds.
In 1952, a team of scientists from France and America explored the Chinkanas dungeons. Archaeologists expected to stay at the excavation site for no more than a week. But of all the participants in the expedition, only a French scientist named Philippe Lamontiere was able to return. The poor man could hardly remember anything about what happened to his group, he was extremely exhausted. Lamontiere was soon diagnosed with symptoms of the bubonic plague, and two weeks later he died. Among the things the scientist took with him from the cave was an ear of corn, made of precious metal.
Another researcher, Dr. Raul Rios Centeno, decided to continue the work of the lost expedition. He assembled a team of leading specialists in the field of archeology and purchased the latest equipment. During the study of an underground temple located near the city of Cuzco, the researchers discovered a rounded tunnel that looks like a giant air duct. The walls of this tunnel did not reflect infrared rays, which led to the conclusion that they are composed of aluminum. Scientists had to turn back when the passage narrowed to several tens of centimeters.

Some researchers of Indian folklore put forward incredible hypotheses regarding the origin of the snake people. In particular, it is believed that these are stenonychosaurs, which, in the process of evolution, managed to become intelligent beings. Being in the depths of deep undergrounds, lizards theoretically could safely survive several ice ages. The hypothesis of the presence of dinosaur people in the Chinkanas caves is to some extent confirmed by the found Ica stones, on which images of half-human-half-lizard are visible.
Soviet geologists Efim Chubarin and Nikolai Popov, who in 1972 carried out excavations in Chile, had a chance to encounter similar creatures. They explored an abandoned mine near the city of Chiguano. Arriving at the research site, the scientists found a huge gate, broken from the inside. Further, a mysterious trail stretched, as if left by a giant crawling snake.
A round, unnaturally level passage ran out from the main highway of the mine. When scientists walked about 40 meters along it, they found a clutch of copper-colored eggs the size of ostrich eggs. Geologists did not dare to delve into the gloomy underground labyrinth, they preferred to return to the camp. Later, the researchers had a chance to communicate with local residents and learn from them about the creepy snake-like creatures with human heads that occasionally leave the mine at dusk.
