This is not a fake, but quite real banknote. But she has some peculiarities …

Since 1918, the US Federal Reserve Bank issued banknotes and gold certificates in denominations of 500, 1,000, 5,000 and 10,000 dollars, which were used mainly in interbank payments, but bills of this denomination were very fashionable in the criminal circles of that time, because who he robbed these banks! A banknote, or rather a gold certificate, with a denomination of $ 100,000, appeared only sixteen years later, in 1934.

All bills from $ 10 to $ 10,000 were issued both in the form of US central bank notes and in the form of gold certificates, which could be exchanged for gold at any time. The 100,000 dollar bill never came out in the form of a full-fledged banknote, but was issued only in the form of a certificate, moreover, it never went into free circulation. Gold certificates were intended to convince people that the United States government did not intend to replace all money backed by gold with "greenbacks", which were completely independent currency units and did not depend on the country's gold reserves.
