In India, attacks by a mysterious predator continue.
Since the end of 2017, an unknown predator has been killing livestock by pulling out internal organs from animals and not touching the meat.
Most of the attacks that year took place in the state of Odisha, and these attacks continued in 2018. And recently, a mysterious beast attacked 12 people in one night in a village in the state of Maharashtra, neighboring Odisha.
Fortunately, people did not suffer, escaping with only scratches, but none of them could describe the creature that attacked them sleeping in the fields.
And at the end of November in Kitana Panung, Manipur state, 40 ducks were found killed at a time on one of the farms. In total, 75 ducks were kept in the pen, and 35 of them survived. Those ducks that managed to hide in the barn survived.
The dead ducks were discovered by the owner of the farm when, as usual, he came to feed the birds. According to him, the carcasses of the ducks were practically intact, but something tore the entrails from most (which ones were not specified) and took them with them or ate them on the spot.
Judging by the scale of the attack, it certainly could not have been done by a fox, ferret or other solitary predator. it doesn't look like an attack by wolves or feral dogs. There were teeth punctures on the carcasses of ducks, and next to them were found traces of some very large animal (unfortunately, there are no photos of these traces in the press).
Earlier, a similar incident was noted on a farm in the Churachandpur district, in the same state of Manipur. Ducks also suffered (number not specified), and not a single drop of blood was found at the scene.
Reporters note that, months earlier in 2018, farmers also found similarly torn animals, including cats and dogs, in various parts of the state of Manipur. People could not understand who attacked them, since this type of killing is not suitable for any local predator.
A series of these bizarre attacks forced the villagers to organize night watch and take turns guarding the animal pens.
