I want to tell a story that happened to my friends from the Ukrainian city of Nikolaev. Several years ago they decided to change their two-room apartment for a private house.
We are talking about a large family: the head of the family is mother Vera Yakovlevna, her two sons, Vitaly and Yuri, each with their other half, and the elder Vitaly also with a small child.
Before the exchange, Vera Yakovlevna lived in an apartment alone, and the children rented a separate apartment. But once the woman decided that if they move to the private sector, she will be able to provide everyone with her own corner and the children will no longer have to wander around other people's apartments.
They began to look for options. The apartment was small, in need of good repair, so they could not offer much for it. In the end, they found a house on the outskirts of the city. The house was spacious, but unfinished; there was another house on the site - a smaller one. The future owners were bribed by a large vegetable garden.
After the deal took place, they began to think about how to settle in a new home. Vera Yakovlevna ordered the following as a proprietor: she will live in a big house, along with her - the eldest son, daughter-in-law and child, her grandson Misha. The neighboring house with two rooms went to the youngest son with his daughter-in-law.
Initially, the idea of placing such a large family on one, albeit a considerable territory, was rather controversial. Still, everyone has their own character, their own habits. Vera Yakovlevna believed that as the eldest children would obey her in everything. Alas, she miscalculated. Quarrels began. From time to time everyone swore with each other: mother and son, mother with daughters-in-law, sons with each other, daughters-in-law with each other. Everyone defended their right to privacy as best they could. Sometimes the others united against one of them. It got to the point that someone did not talk to someone for weeks or even months.
Over time, the situation only intensified. Members of the same family began to hate each other fiercely. The situation worsened when the eldest son Vitaly and his wife Valentina began to kiss the bottle. Vera Yakovlevna, a temperamental woman, could not remain silent, she knew that her son was addicted to alcohol under the influence of his wife. Sorting out the relationship sometimes ended in a fight. After such terrible scenes, Vera Yakovlevna complained to her neighbors that after the move her children seemed to be replaced. Why this happened, she did not understand.
Once Vitaly decided to go to work in Kiev, he was a trolleybus driver: there was almost no work left in his hometown. After his departure, the situation escalated to the limit. Valentina started drinking. Vera Yakovlevna tried to shame her, she began to snap back, shout that the old woman got everyone, the youngest son stood up to protect his mother, a fight broke out. Then Valentina packed her suitcase, took her son and moved out of the yard. Vera Yakovlevna sighed with relief at first, but when Vitaly, who was supposed to return from Kiev, did not show up at his home, she became depressed.

The eldest son did not appear on the doorstep of the house either after a year or two, and then rumors reached the old woman that he was missing. He left for the capital to work - and disappeared. His phone was unavailable, and he himself did not give any news of himself even to his wife. Then the war broke out in Ukraine. Perhaps Vitaly moved on to fight in the Donbass, perhaps somewhere else, but so far he has not answered any greetings.
During this time, the younger Yuri managed to divorce, marry again, tried to have children with a new wife, but to no avail. They had IVF, but the twin girls died immediately after giving birth. Vera Yakovlevna has given up badly, has grown old from all these misfortunes.
Once Yuri started a major overhaul in the summer kitchen. I took apart the old floors. And under them was … the deceased. The police were called.
After the investigative measures, it became clear: this was a man who was killed by hitting him on the head with something heavy. No documents were found with him, the corpse was decomposed so much that it was not possible to identify it.
Vera Yakovlevna, an incredibly superstitious woman, was beside herself. “To live on bones for so many years,” the old woman lamented.
She was sure: the spirit of this man, who was buried in the underground like a dog, was constantly hovering around and did not give rest to the living, demanding a worthy burial. That's where all the trouble comes from!
