An ominous tragedy occurred in early February 1959: of the nine tourists who spent the night in one tent on the slope, none returned alive. Since then, many different, including absolutely fantastic, versions of this story have appeared and swept aside.

The death of Dyatlov's tour group is one of the most terrible and mysterious incidents that happened in the USSR in the middle of the 20th century. On the night of 1 to 2 February, nine tourists under the leadership of Igor Dyatlov met their death in the Northern Urals.

The official conclusion reads: “Considering the absence of external bodily injuries and signs of struggle on the corpses, the presence of all the values of the group, and also taking into account the conclusion of the forensic medical examination on the causes of death of tourists, it should be considered that the cause of the death of tourists was a spontaneous force, which the tourists overcome were not able to."

However, very strange finds on that pass and the circumstances of what happened for many years have occupied the minds of people, forcing them to build their own versions of how the versions of the event that led to such a sad outcome unfolded.

First of all, all those who visited the site of the last camp of the tour group were amazed that the tent they had set up on the slope of Mount Holatchakhl was empty. In it were thrown supplies, clothes and valuables of tourists. One wall was cut from the inside in several places.

“The place to stay for the night is 300 m from the top of mountain 1079, with a slope of 30 °. The place to sleep is a snow-leveled area with 8 pairs of skis at the bottom. The tent is stretched out on ski poles, fixed with ropes, 9 backpacks with various personal belongings of the group members are spread at the bottom of the tent, quilted jackets, wind jackets are laid on top, 9 pairs of boots in the heads, men's trousers, also three pairs of felt boots, warm fur jackets were also found, socks, hat, ski caps, dishes, buckets, stove, axes, saw, blankets, food: crackers in two bags, condensed milk, sugar, concentrates, notebooks, route plan and many other small things and documents and a camera and accessories the camera."

The bodies of the dead hikers were later found much lower down the slope. For some unknown reason, they ran out of the tent at night half-dressed in a bitter frost. Found bodies with injuries of varying severity led to the emergence of many versions of the tragedy:

- revenge of local residents, - attack of escaped prisoners, - tests of secret weapons, - rare natural anomalies, - meeting with UFOs, etc …

And so technical expert Yuri Antipov published a completely prosaic explanation of what happened, based solely on attention to detail and his own experience. At the Dyatlov pass, absolutely nothing from the category of mysticism happened.

This last photo, found in the camera of the tour group, shows how the tent is being set up on the same slope. Their long, sewn in two, the tent was supposed to stand almost level with the snow level from the side of the summit. Please note that at this moment a strong wind was blowing from the side of the top of the slope (in the photo on the right), which contributed to the subsequent movement of snow.

The tourists deeply buried the tent in the snow, and the poles, the role of which was played here by ski poles stuck into the snow, should not have experienced significant wind loads, and should not have broken. In the same photo, in the foreground, an alpenstock stuck into the snow is visible, practically in the center of the future tent. It stands in such a way that the plane of the alpenstock is practically parallel to the rear end wall of the tent being installed.

In the photo taken at the site of the discovery of the tent by the search group after more than two weeks, we see that the alpenstock is no longer on the longitudinal center line of the tent, but much lower along the slope. At the same time, it is still oriented in the same way as at the time of preparing the site for the tent. Also, the left ski pole from the entrance to the tent on the side of the summit is broken!

This indicates that the tent, buried in the snow during installation, experienced very strong pressure from the snow from the side of the top of the slope.

Thus, on the basis of objective facts, the picture of the tragedy is revealed: on the slope of the mountain, where the tent of tourists was set up, there was a shift in the snow-ice layer. And the squeezing of the tent, like a press, by a moving layer of snow with an ice crust, forced the tourists to urgently get out of the tent, cutting it open. It was at this time that some of the group members, who were sleeping, of course, across the tent, head to the top, received severe injuries from the ice blow.

Judging by the movement of the alpenstock relative to the tent, the ice sheet was localized. Probably, the tourists, digging a hole in the snow under the tent, violated the integrity of the layer and under the influence of a strong wind from the top, it began to move …

As a result, the hikers, injured and half-dressed at night in the severe frost of the night, went down the slope and could no longer return home …
