A group of archaeologists from Egypt discovered in the Dakhshur region - the necropolis of the pharaohs of the Ancient and Middle Kingdoms in Egypt and 26 kilometers from Cairo - the ruins of a previously unknown ancient pyramid. This was announced by the Ministry of Ancient Egyptian Monuments, RIA Novosti reported.

It is estimated that the pyramid was built during the XIII Dynasty of the Pharaohs (XVIII-XVII centuries BC) and it was located south of the famous Broken Pyramid of Pharaoh Sneferu. Also, experts found a fragment of an alabaster tablet with a hieroglyphic text measuring 17 by 15 centimeters.

"The discovered part is in good condition, the archaeological mission will continue to work, hoping to find other parts of the pyramid," said the head of the central department of the ministry for Cairo and Giza Alya al-Shahat.

On the territory of Dakhshur, a total of 15 pyramids were found, which belong to the IV, XII and XIII dynasties of the pharaohs. The best preserved are the Broken and Pink Pyramids of Sneferu, during the construction of which the Egyptians managed to develop the correct shape of the pyramid.
