And something unusual really appeared on the snow-covered fields of Britain, just not circles and not mystical figures, but self-propelled rolls. This amazing natural phenomenon was seen and photographed by forester Brian Bayliss, who lives in Wiltshire. Having left the other morning in the field, the man literally was dumbfounded: rolls rolled along the flat snow-covered surface, very similar to bales of hay.
At first, the forester thought that some pranksters were playing this way, but, coming closer, he did not find a single trace in the snow, except for those left by the mysterious rolls themselves. White "bagels" rolled, overgrown with snow and becoming larger and larger. The picture was so striking that an experienced forester, who had seen many miracles in his lifetime, rushed to shoot snow rolls with a smartphone camera, and then turned to the Internet for help: what is it?
Ian Fergusson, BBC UK meteorologist, explained this: This is a rare natural phenomenon; it is not surprising that even old-timers are puzzled: to see this at least once in their life is a great success. For the formation of such rolls, certain conditions are necessary: recently fallen, fluffy snow, air temperature slightly above zero, optimal wind (strong enough, but not harsh and not gusty) and, finally, the flatness of the field itself - the scene of action.
But why is this happening in England, netizens reasonably ask. After all, circles in wheat fields are observed mainly here, and now there are no less mysterious snow rolls (you never know what scientists say there, who can easily explain crop circles without explaining anything in principle).
