Witches try to get into a person's dwelling when they need to plant something on the owners and damage it.
Lana has not worked for several years, she kept a house and was engaged in dog training. The money earned by her husband was quite enough for a living. Lana did not make much of a friendship with her neighbors. She nodded dryly when she met familiar faces and walked on in silence. Often a woman with her back felt the unkind look of the old women on the bench and clearly heard a whisper about the fact that she was a bum, no children, she did not greet anyone mentally and did not conduct long conversations. It's a different matter - young people from another city who rent an apartment here. They are always polite, and they will stop talking and ask about health!
Lana ignored the annoying old women. One afternoon the apartment was called. Lana was not afraid of robbers: her German shepherd, who had completed all training courses, could easily disarm any intruder. A young man stood in the doorway. Lana knew that he was a newcomer, renting an apartment here. She guessed about it by looking at the license plates of his car.
The neighbor lived several floors above, and the girl was surprised to see him on the threshold of her apartment. The man was drunk. He confusedly began to explain that his car would not start. He finished his request quite impudently: “You still have nothing to do, you are sitting at home. Take me to the car service. " Lana was indignant. She sarcastically remarked that they did not drink to brotherhood in order to switch to "you". Secondly, he is drunk. Thirdly, she has something to do. The neighbor got angry. He tried to enter into a verbal skirmish, but quickly hesitated when a bared mouth of a dog appeared in front of him. Continuing "justly" to resent the "inhospitable Muscovites", he went out into the street. In the courtyard, he continued his speech in front of the old women sympathetic to him.
In the evening, Lana told her husband about what had happened. In particular, she was outraged that the grandmothers on the bench sincerely sympathized with the drunkard. It didn't even occur to them that a man in such a state was going to get behind the wheel! But the young woman perfectly heard through the open window, what epithets she was awarded with.
Several days passed. At an inopportune time in the apartment the bell rang again. Lana opened it. A young woman stood before her. As soon as the door opened, she resolutely tried to enter the apartment. The dog growled menacingly. The visitor started shouting that she was afraid of dogs, and the hostess was scaring her on purpose. At first she refused to help her husband, and now she is being poisoned with dogs. She came to meet as a neighbor, they are the same age, but Lana is not behaving properly. You need to communicate with neighbors, and not pass by with your head held high. The impudent stubbornly tried to cross the threshold of the apartment, but after the warning attack of the dog, she still gave up her attempts.
Lana was at a loss. What's happening? After the active lady left, the dog did not find a place for itself. She never left the hostess, and growled towards the front door. Lana didn't like it. She carefully examined the place near the threshold. A needle gleamed on the rug. Everything immediately fell into place. The "offended" witch decided to avenge her husband. Lana immediately realized that the boor had decided to damage their house.

She poured the spoiled needle into the toilet, saying at the same time: "Help the water, wash away the trouble." Gloves, a scoop and a broom, she packed in a bag and put it in the trash.
After this incident, Lana decided to further protect herself. At the top of the door frame, she placed a knife with the blade facing downward. This long-standing magical trick helps people with malicious intent to invade a home. It is believed that a witch, having felt the blade of a knife above her head, will not cross the threshold of the house.
Within a few days, Lana was convinced that the magical amulet was effective. One of the neighbors on the landing, with whom the girl had a good relationship before, flatly refused to enter the apartment. She, as always, wanted to go "like a neighbor" for some little thing. But suddenly she stopped and asked Lana to step out of the door herself. The girl realized that this woman did not always come to her house with good intentions. The knife above the threshold has become a kind of "indicator" of people's true intentions. And Lana once again realized that even the nicest-looking people can harbor anger and envy in their souls.
After this incident, the woman performed a ritual to cleanse the apartment with holy water and the flame of Jerusalem candles, in order to permanently expel other people's bad thoughts from her home.
Gift of a witch
It is believed that before her death, a real witch must transfer her abilities to someone. Usually, the ability to conjure is passed from generation to generation along the female line. But the gift of witchcraft is a heavy burden that not everyone can bear. Sometimes, daughters or granddaughters of hereditary sorcerers refuse such a "gift".
Since childhood, Nadezhda heard a lot of negative reviews about her grandmother. They lived in neighboring houses, but Nadia's father tried to communicate with his mother as little as possible. Yes, and the neighbors bypassed Varvara's house and did not communicate with her unnecessarily. Although, when one of the women had problems with their husbands or needed help to cure livestock, they willingly went with Varvara to contact. But behind the back they called him exclusively "a witch".
The woman lived in seclusion, and saw her granddaughter only on weekends. Nadezhda did not like to stay in her grandmother's house. Every night the girl heard strange rustles and knocks. The girl tried to ask her grandmother what she was doing and why she was called a witch in the village. The woman replied that it was too early for her to know all the details. When she grows up, she will tell her everything. But the girl was not satisfied with this answer. Each time, staying overnight at her grandmother, she felt the presence of some kind of dark force in the house. After a while, she flatly refused to visit her even on weekends.
As time went on, Nadezhda graduated from school and left the village for the regional center, to enter a medical school.
Once her father called her and asked to come urgently. His old mother feels very bad and wants to see her granddaughter before she dies. Forgetting childhood fears, Nadezhda came to her grandmother. She was really bad. She said that she could not leave for another world until she gave her granddaughter her gift of a witch. The girl was frightened. She did not want to become like her grandmother, did not want to communicate with otherworldly forces. Childhood memories of the strangeness in my grandmother's house came to life. Hope categorically refused the old witch. She wanted to live an ordinary life, like all her peers and did not want to be an outcast. The old woman was angry. She began to curse her granddaughter and said that it was impossible to go against the age-old traditions. The girl rushed out of the house. On the same day, she left the village, deciding not to return. At the funeral of the grandmotherwho died three days later, she did not go.
Immediately after the death of the old woman, Nadezhda began to notice strange things behind herself. Looking at the person, she could tell with accuracy what he was sick with. If a friend had a toothache, the girl could easily "anesthetize" him without medication. Friends joked that she would be a doctor from God. But Nadezhda understood where she actually got these abilities. As promised, the old woman nevertheless gave her this gift; it was no coincidence that she wanted to see her granddaughter before her death. But it turned out that the girl can not only heal. It was enough for her to think badly about someone who hurt her, and troubles rained down on the person. Nadezhda did not want such abilities.
She went to her native village. Grandma's house was boarded up. The father said that no one wants to buy it, despite the low price. Hope decided to act. She persuaded her father to demolish the witch's house, and all that was left of him to burn. The father was surprised, but when he heard about the "gift" that his mother gave to her granddaughter, he did everything as his daughter ordered.
Looking at the burning remains of the house, Nadezhda sincerely prayed that her black power would also burn in the fire. When the last coal burned out, the girl felt relief. She understood - the cursed gift of the witch had left her.
Now she could not find the cause of the disease with just one glance, but she could not harm people either. The girl graduated from medical school and entered the institute. Thanks to her knowledge and talent as a doctor, she managed to save many human lives, and in her address she only heard gratitude. Nadezhda never regretted that she had chosen the life of an ordinary person, and people do not whisper behind her back that she is a witch.
