"The Book of Anomalies" was published in Chelyabinsk

One hundred years ago, on June 30, 1908, a huge meteorite fell in the Tunguska taiga. Eyewitnesses of the fall saw a flash in the sky brighter than the brightest sun, heard deafening thunder. And over Chelyabinsk and Kurgan that day there was a "white night".

It was light on the streets: at least read a book, at least rewrite a small text! In addition, the sky played with crimson colors, like the northern lights. It is believed that our planet then fell into a cloud of cosmic dust. But there is no evidence of this yet. The Ural "white nights" remained a natural phenomenon that has no clue. And far from the only one!

Our compatriot Irina Egurnaya even wrote a whole book about them: "Natural phenomena of Chelyabinsk." Under one cover, here are collected stories about the most amazing natural phenomena for less than three hundred years that our city has existed.

- Summer snowfalls, the most famous floods, hailstorms, tornadoes and even UFOs! - Irina Sergeevna randomly names chapters from the book.

For almost ten years, Irina's first book on the same topic “And the Unprecedented Happened” has been circulating in Chelyabinsk as a great rarity.

- I gave it to the closest, beloved people, - admitted the chief weather forecaster of the Chelyabinsk region Tatyana Leonidovna Ishukova. - In my memory there are also many unique phenomena, but only Irina was able to describe them!

War prevented uncovering the secret of the aliens

To compile a comprehensive collection, the author shoveled through a bunch of documents in the archives, re-read many books and articles. It's nice, but the "Komsomolskaya Pravda" sometimes inspired Irina to feats.

“In 2001, I read in KP that in India, after a meteorite fell, it rained red,” says Irina. - Then scientists suggested that red matter is an alien, unknown form of life.

Irina remembered: something similar happened in the South Urals. In April 1941, a bright ball flew over the Katav-Ivanovsky region, losing some fragments. The fireball was not found then, but under the village of Orlovka just to the west of Katava, as in India, a strip of red snow fell. He was even sent for analysis. But the war began, and they forgot about the "red aliens".

“Perhaps then we ran into aliens,” smiles Egurnaya. - What a pity that no one began to "spin" this case like the history of the Tunguska meteorite!

Who draws crosses and circles in the sky

Unusual things happen today.

“In late autumn or early spring, when there is a light snowfall at dawn, a column of light sometimes rises above the sun,” says Irina. - I often admire such a picture from the Kirov Bridge.

This phenomenon (circles around the sun or moon, pillars of fire, crosses in the entire sky) is called "halo". There is nothing mysterious about its origin. Cirrus clouds and ice crystals give a visual effect. But before, people saw bad signs in the halo. For example, a month before the outbreak of the war in 1941, Chelyabinsk residents saw two huge border pillars in the sky and a soldier's boot between them!

The Chelyabinsk artist Anatoly Pastukhov does not fear such optical effects. One day he discovered circles around the sun just above the domes of the church. Since then, it has been a favorite subject of his paintings. Moreover, bright, joyful!

Encyclopedia of Urban Superstitions

In recent years, half of Chelyaba has been bombarded with Irina Sergeevna with questions: explain something else. Moreover, more and more often the people are worried not by the leprosy of nature, but by ghosts, beasts and brownies! I had to devote a chapter to this side of life in a fresh book. So, Egurnaya's "Phenomena" is not only a scientific treatise on the nature of phenomena. This is a kind of encyclopedia of modern city superstitions.

Moreover, reading it is equally interesting for both children and adults!
