Did you know that Egypt and South America are not the only places where you can see the pyramids? In our time, similar structures have been found on the territory of Bosnia, China, and even in the Crimea.
But who would have thought that there are pyramids in Australia. And they really exist there - these embankments in the past were considered natural objects, but in our time, researchers have established that they are real pyramids, and perhaps they were built much earlier than the Egyptian ones. Oddly enough, but for a long time these things were considered abandoned … birds' nests. Later, the researchers found that these are the mounds of the indigenous people of Australia.
This discovery was made as part of a research project in Western Cape York, in northern Queensland. Here archaeologists were able to discover hundreds of similar pyramids. Of course, they are smaller than the pyramids of Egypt and South America. The old residents of these places told the researchers that they themselves never approach the mounds, because in the old legends it is said that these burial grounds are protected by the forces of the other world. And the people here (especially the indigenous people) are superstitious.
These pyramids cannot boast of enormous height and dimensions - the height of eleven of them is about four meters - over many thousands of years they were undermined by the forces of nature. Inside these burials, researchers found human remains. To investigate these pyramids, archaeologists used ground-based radar and magnetometric technology - this was done in order not to spoil the burial grounds.
With this technology, the researchers were able to "look through the surface of the earth," and they discovered tombs there that are many thousands of years old. Time did not spare these ancient buildings, and now most of them have become almost invisible.

In one of these graves, archaeologists were able to find painted stones and corals, weapons and many other ancient artifacts. These pyramids could fundamentally change researchers' perceptions of the developmental history and culture of Australian Aborigines.
Scientists claim that these buildings are about six thousand years old. But there is another theory according to which they may be much older.
According to the assumptions of enthusiastic researchers, the structure was created by an unknown ancient civilization about 3 thousand years ago. Rex Gilroy, who discovered the Gumpy Pyramid in 1975, claims that the pyramid was created by Egyptians who visited Australia many centuries ago.

According to Italian explorer Antonio Wheeler, the terraced structures are part of a retaining wall built by Italian farmers to stop erosion. These pyramids once again show that in ancient times there was a single civilization with one culture and architectural style, and the Australian indigenous people began to use the deserted buildings, like numerous peoples around the world.
