The ancient Egyptian pyramids are one of the greatest historical and world mysteries. Until now, it is not entirely clear who and how they built them, nor what their original purpose was … In this regard, many non-standard and even conspiracy theories have appeared, some of which look absolutely fantastic.

The pyramids were built by the Atlanteans

Proof of this is found in Herodotus, who described a “lost city”. According to this hypothesis, the surviving inhabitants of the flooded Atlantis migrated to Egypt, where they began to build the pyramids. They had a culturological purpose - they were monuments to the lost continent, the homeland of the Atlanteans …

The pyramids were not tombs, but altars

The oldest of the Egyptian pyramids are the remains of the stepped pyramidal complex at Saqqara. The complex was built around 2650 BC by order of Djoser (this name means "Saint"), the second pharaoh of the third dynasty of Egypt, who ruled around 2635-2611 BC. The construction was entrusted to the famous architect Imhotep.

It is Imhotep who is considered to be the progenitor of pyramidal forms in architecture. He proposed to build over the stone mastaba (translated from Arabic - "bench": the so-called rectangular structure, which was supposed to serve as the tomb of the pharaoh), three more mastaba, smaller in size, turning the tomb into a four-step pyramid. The dimensions of its base were 125 × 215 × 115 meters. Subsequently, the number of steps was increased to 6, and the building reached 61 meters in height.

The steps, as the researchers believe, had a symbolic meaning - along them the pharaoh, after his death, had to climb into the sky … Let's remember that the ancient Egyptians did nothing without looking back at Divine powers. So Djoser wanted to facilitate his transition to another world and communication with God, and therefore he planned to erect an altar in the middle of the land of Egypt …

Astronomical observatories

This is a very common theory about pyramids. The fact is that the buildings are precisely oriented to the cardinal points, and the number of their steps corresponds to the number of days in a year.

Navigation stations

At least, that's what French explorers Belizal and Chomery say about the Great Pyramid at Giza. Scientists speculate that there could have been copies of the pyramid that were ancient CPS receivers. Once installed on ships, they caught the "signal" from the Great Pyramid, which helped sailors to head home. However, this is the most unsubstantiated of the pyramid theories that exist today.

The pyramids were granaries

This hypothesis was put forward by a medieval monk named Brother Bernard. Somehow he managed to make a trip to Egypt, from where he returned, firmly convinced that the pyramids were originally intended to store grain. As proof, Brother Bernard quoted lines from the Book of Genesis: Joseph the Beautiful predicts famine to Egypt and advises Pharaoh to build towers so that food supplies can be stored in them … Oddly enough, this very prosaic theory of the origin of the pyramids is still very popular.

Energy centers

The advanced ancient Egyptians supposedly knew how to concentrate cosmic energy. The pyramids served this very purpose. Why was energy from space needed? Probably, the pharaohs needed it, who were going to live forever, feeding on energy from the pyramids …

Alien beacons

Ufologists are very fond of this version. Like, the pyramids were built not by people, but by aliens. They served as landmarks for landing alien ships … And, by the way, it is possible that these "alien beacons" function to this day.

Information storage

British mathematician John Legon suggested that in the very form of buildings a huge amount of information accumulated over the entire existence of civilization at the time of the construction of the pyramids is "encrypted". This hypothesis can be confirmed by the fact that the ratio of the base of the pyramid to its height is exactly

Thus, each structure can be a map projection of the Northern Hemisphere at a scale of 1: 43,200.

Even if the ancient Egyptian civilization had perished, such majestic structures might have survived, and representatives of new civilizations could have adopted ancient knowledge …
