The mysterious disc of Death, discovered by archaeologists in the ancient Mexican city of Teotihuacan, may be a functional artifact that was used in space flights. Such a bold assumption was made by researchers who studied a strange object.

The Disc of Death is an artifact discovered in 1963 during an excavation near the Pyramid of the Sun. In the center of the disc is a skull, which prompted researchers to suspect that the disc may be related to Miktlantecuchtli, the Aztec deity of death.

It is believed that the Death Disc is associated with the cruel Aztec rituals during which human sacrifice was carried out. However, recent research suggests something else.

“We found out that the name Teotihuacan translates as 'the place where the gods touch the earth.' If we start from this name, as well as from some other strange details, we can assume that the Aztecs had certain ideas about aviation and astronautics,”experts say.

The Way of the Dead, located at the Pyramid of the Sun, could well have been not just a ritual object, but also something like a runway - researchers of the Aztec heritage are sure.

And the mysterious "halo" that surrounds the skull on the disc of Death is not just a ritual pattern (reminiscent, by the way, of halos over the heads of Orthodox saints), but some kind of equipment for space travel - perhaps something like a spacesuit.
