In March 1974, after a forest fire destroyed 35 hectares of forest, the Betz family accidentally stumbled upon a strange object - a silvery sphere, about 20 cm in diameter, weighing about 10 kg, completely smooth, except for a strange, elongated triangle. At first they thought it was a NASA gadget or even some Soviet spy satellite, but then they came to the conclusion that it was just a metal ball. They took him home.

Having put the ball at home, everyone forgot about its existence. When the eldest son started playing the guitar two weeks later, the ball in the same room began to behave a little strangely: it began to react to his melodies, making a strange pulsating sound and resonance, which greatly alarmed the family dog.

In the following days, family members discovered that the ball had other strange properties as well. He could stop and change direction as he rolled on the floor, and even returned to the person who pushed him. The family began to notice that he was being charged with solar energy. Since he became active on sunny days.

He even began to look as if something (or someone) was controlling the sphere: he sometimes emitted low-frequency sound and vibrations, as if there was an engine inside. One might think that he always avoids falls and blows, as if protecting what is inside him. He could even climb on an incline to keep from falling.

After this mysterious ball became known to the media, newspapers such as The New York Times and The London Daily sent their journalists to report on this miracle. And the mysterious ball has shown all its tricks to countless people.

Many scientists and members of the military were impressed by this object, but the Betz family did not agree to a thorough study of the ball.

Soon everything changed, the sphere began to show itself not very well. At night, the owners of the house began to hear creaks and slamming of doors, and strange organ music filled the house from nowhere. It was then that the family decided to find out the origin of the strange ball.

The Navy retrieved and analyzed this mysterious ball and concluded that it was a perfectly normal, high quality stainless steel ball.

Even now, it is not entirely clear what the “mysterious sphere” is. Many theories have been proposed to explain its origin. The official version of the balloon's origin had a very simple explanation: 3 years before the Betz family discovered the balloon, the artist James Darling-Jones was driving through that area in his car. On the roof rack were several similar stainless steel balls to serve as a frame for the sculpture he was working on. So, some of the balls could simply fall out while driving on a bumpy road. These balls fully corresponded to the description of the Betz ball and were balanced enough to change the trajectory at the slightest unevenness (the Betz family lived in an old house with uneven floors, so such a ball could behave erratically). These balls were filled with fine shavings during the manufacturing process and could make sounds.

But what about loud closing doors and loud music? What is the likelihood that when studying a sphere, it could be replaced with a dummy and come up with a story with an artist?

Of course, all these phenomena do not have a complete explanation, but you can still doubt the alien origin of the shiny ball.
