A resident of the Scottish city of Glasgow called the secret of her longevity the regular use of alcoholic beverages, reports on Tuesday, December 15, Metro.

Ina Carruthers, who celebrated her 105th birthday on November 30, revealed that she drank gin and orange juice every week.

Carraffers is under the supervision of specialists in the Aisla Craig boarding school for the elderly with special needs, where she can still be found with a glass of alcoholic drink in her hands. The woman follows a diet of alcoholic cocktails, oat bran, toast and biscuits. According to her, it is to these products that she owes her health and long life.

The Glasgow resident was born in 1910. The Carraffers have three children: Ian (he turned 70 this year), Maureen (65) and Sarah, who died at the age of eight. The Scottish woman worked all her life to get them on their feet, but, according to her, did not forget about entertainment either.

Carraffers worked as a machinist, and then as an engineer at a factory. Every Monday she went to the disco in one of the local clubs, where she always ordered a cocktail with gin.

This is not the first time that centenarians have cited alcohol as one of the main reasons for their health. On August 5, 110-year-old New Jersey resident Agnes Fenton called the secret of her longevity to drinking three glasses of beer and a shot of whiskey a day over the past 70 years.
