The inversion of the Earth's magnetic poles, which scientists from different countries have been actively talking about recently, will not happen soon, but the prospect itself is frightening, since in the process the magnetism of our planet will significantly weaken, which does not bode well.
Nothing terrible will happen from the fact that the north arrow of the compass points to the south, but before the magnetic poles change places, something incredibly dangerous for earthly life will happen - the intensity of the magnetic field will weaken, and pathogenic solar radiation will literally burn out the biosphere.
The most unpleasant thing about this whole story is that the process, apparently, has already begun. Over the past two hundred years, the Earth's magnetic field has become weaker by about fifteen percent. And there are many more minuses than pluses (of the latter, it is worth noting perhaps the more frequent and intense auroras).
“If it goes on like this, then lethal particles charged by the Sun will begin to penetrate into the planet's atmosphere in huge quantities. There is no need to talk about the apocalypse, but many species can really die out, that is, the ecological balance will change very noticeably,”experts say.
