Cruelty is a personality trait consisting in complete indifference to the suffering of other people or animals, as well as the desire to hurt others. But who is more cruel: men or women?

Sociological data show that more than half of the killers arrested by Interpol are women. Also, women are more often perpetrators of terrorist acts. Despite the fact that a woman rarely decides to commit a crime, if she decides, then sometimes she uses more cruel methods than a man.

For example, the most violent women in history are:

- Daria Saltykova (one of the most sophisticated murderers, who killed about 139 girls, women and girls);

- Elizabeth Bathory (a real serial killer who killed about 650 people in her life and everything in order to bathe in a bath of their blood and look young);

- Catherine Knight (the first woman to be sentenced to life imprisonment without the right to change the sentence for the fact that she killed, dismembered and boiled her own husband);

- Elsa Koch (she collected human skin with interesting marks from prisoners from the concentration camp and even ordered bags, chandeliers and other household items from them);

- Princess Olga (took revenge on her husband's killers by setting fire to the whole village).

Many years of research by psychiatrists, psychologists, forensic scientists and sociologists also show that women are more cruel, and this is due to a number of factors:

Firstly, women have a more developed instinct for self-preservation and preservation of offspring, which is why at critical moments a woman is ready to act more decisively than a man and are more ruthless, since she needs to preserve and raise a child. Moreover, in an effort to save the child, a woman is even capable of killing the child's father if he poses a real threat to the baby.

Secondly, according to the assumption of one Scandinavian sociopsychologist, women are more cruel also because they more often, for objective reasons, have to refuse men. This problem is rooted in adolescence, when girls and boys are 13-16 years old, being in an unequal situation regarding the issue of relationships and love. Boys offer girls relationships, and they, in turn, cannot be friends with all the boys who offer them such relationships at the same time, and are forced to refuse. Refusal is an insult. The boy expects reciprocity, but as a result he gets the opposite result. The girl constantly refuses to reinforce the understanding that in order to preserve herself, sometimes she has to refuse, which means she must be ruthless. Thus, the behavior is reinforced.

Of course, it is impossible to say that all women are by nature more cruel, but at the same time, as history shows, women are still more sophisticated and vengeful.
