Contradictory for the Russian public, Halloween reminds of a whole world of legends inhabited by vampires, ghosts, witches and sorcerers. Karelia also has its own evil spirits. Our land is often called mystical. Many legends and eyewitness stories are devoted to mysterious otherworldly forces. In the Karelian forests and lakes, according to legend, strange creatures live, goblin, mermaids. On the eve of All Saints' Day, "Runa" collected several stories about unusual meetings and terrible visions that happened in the republic.

Either Bigfoot or Water Man

In the forest and lake land, there must be a snowman. Russian researchers of the so-called Yeti decided to test this hypothesis in 1990. Their trip is described in Valentin Salunov's book "Secrets of the Bigfoot: Between Man and Beast." A group of five people visited the Vedlozero lake. Here, according to the stories of ufologists, in 1928 a large unidentified object fell, after which hairy people began to appear from the lake.

This is what Fyodor Petrovich Yegorov, a 72-year-old resident of the village of Vedlozero, told in those years about strange creatures resembling water ones. - I am a middle-aged person, I would like to have time to tell scientists about what I saw. Maybe it matters for science. I was sailing on the lake in a boat in the summer of 1934, when I suddenly saw a creature on a rock. It seems like a person - and not a person. Height - a meter and a half, round head without neck, long hair, brown body, long, white arms and legs. I see him waving his arms, sort of combing his long hair. I swam closer - it plunged into the water and never showed up. I got a good look. What arms and legs can a seal have? Petersburg researchers who came to Karelia also learned that in the spring of 1990 a pensioner from Pryazha V. Oparin met a huge light gray figure on the shore of Lake Pryazhinsky,human-like, but covered in hair. The guests from the Northern capital concluded that the Yeti came to our region from the Leningrad region, where it was observed until March. - How can you explain these stories? We have no right to blame everything on the inventions of illiterate people. None of the witnesses gave the impression of visionaries. The coincidence of the testimony given by independent witnesses, too, cannot be accidental, - wrote the author of the book "Secrets of the Bigfoot: Between Man and Beast."- wrote the author of the book "Secrets of the Bigfoot: Between Man and Beast."- wrote the author of the book "Secrets of the Bigfoot: Between Man and Beast."

A group of five people visited the Vedlozero lake. The construction of the White Sea-Baltic Canal is shrouded in mysticism. Residents of neighboring villages say that an ancient temple is buried under the waters of the 16th lock. - Our villages are island, river. If something lights up somewhere, then we will not burn everything, the water will take over. Even in the very old days on the island between the villages of Vygostrov and Matigora there was a temple in honor of the great martyr Barbara. They got to the services by boats. The temple was three-domed, very beautiful and rich, with a bell tower, the sound of which was unmatched in the entire White Sea. There were old graves next to the church, and not everyone was buried there, - said a resident of the village of Vygostrov Alexandra Nikolaevna Belaya. According to her, the church burned down before the revolution. Then each resident brought a log, and a new temple was erected on the neighboring island. But they did not manage to consecrate it and hold at least one service in it. After 1917, a club was made in the premises of the church. According to the stories of people, when the domes were thrown off the temple, everyone clearly heard a crack and saw sparks. - And the chairman of the collective farm and the chairman of the village council Matrosov and Martanov destroyed the temple. One of them took the altar part for the construction of the barn. After that, when his wife entered the barn, all the cows lay upside down in the manger. And so it was every day, people saw it, - recalls Aleksandra Belaya. - After a short time, both chairmen died, the wife of one of them broke her leg, and then she was paralyzed. When they began to build the White Sea-Baltic Canal, they completely destroyed the temple, even the foundation was dug a dozen meters deep. This place is now occupied by the 16th channel gateway. Everything that was in the temple was taken home. The island with the remains of the ancient Barbarian Church was flooded with water. The burials were moved from there behind the gateway. When the graves were dug, they found long female braids. The birch that grew on the island near the old temple was cut down. And when it was chopped, blood flowed from the trunk.which grew on the island near the old temple, was cut down. A voice in the fog

The family's trip from St. Petersburg to Karelia ended with a fright for life. Having reached the swamp in the Medvezhyegorsk region, they walked deep into the forest.

Mother and son began to pick berries, while the father of the family and his brother-in-law went hunting. At four o'clock in the afternoon, the family returned to the car and prepared to drive back, but the car would not start. No matter how hard the men tried to understand what the matter was, nothing came of it. Then the woman and her brother went to the nearest village for help, and the father and son began to set up a tent in a clearing nearby. Suddenly a fog crept from the side of the swamp. Both suddenly became creepy and scary. Suddenly, from afar, sad female singing was heard. Both men decided to roll up the tent and spend the night in the car. The singing grew louder. It was impossible to make out the words, a simple melody, somewhat similar to the title theme of the TV show “Good night, kids”, only sad and mournful. They began to clean up the tent, and at that moment the father screamed in a frantic voice. He sat down on the ground and began to point towards the swamp. From there, hundreds of silhouettes stared at the men. They did not move, but a silvery glow emanated from them in all directions. The men rushed to the car, when they reached the car, the fog cleared. It became quiet and calm around. The family left for St. Petersburg only in the morning when the mother and her brother returned to the parking lot.

The sorcerer's diary

Petrozavodsk is also full of mystical stories. In the late 90s, a sorcerer died in a local hospital. According to the stories of the townspeople, the man communicated with evil spirits for many years, sometimes helped to heal people, and sometimes caused damage.

The sorcerer had a notebook where he regularly wrote down recipes for various drugs and conspiracies. When the man died, a ghost began to visit his relatives every evening. The ghost moved restlessly around the house, waving its arms, tore out clumps of hair from its head. The sorcerer seemed to be trying to explain something, but could not. The visits continued until one of the relatives realized that the sorcerer needed his notebook. Having found out that it was useless to burn and drown her, the relatives decided to bury her in the sorcerer's grave. Arriving at the cemetery, they began to bury the sorcerer's diary, when suddenly there was a loud laughter. The family threw down their shovels and ran away from the grave. True, after that the ghost did not torment them anymore.

Pray for me

Quite often, ghosts are seen in one of the hostels of the Karelian capital. Students are accustomed to voices and strange images, but they terrify new tenants.

Both ghosts appeared here after tragic episodes. About 20 years ago, a young man committed suicide in his room. Since then, on different floors, residents from time to time hear a voice that asks to pray for him. As eyewitnesses say, if you light a candle in a church, the whispering will stop for two or three weeks, but then it will return. And in the basement of the same hostel, they often see the ghost of a girl. She became a victim of rape, could not stand the incident and committed suicide. The ghost can be seen in the fall and winter if you go down to the basement.
