Until now, an inquisitive researcher can find monuments in the remote taiga corners of Karelia that often do not fit into the system of logical representations of modern man. The complex on Vottovaara Mountain (Muezersky District of the Republic of Karelia), attracting more and more tourists from year to year, is one of such monuments

“Vottovaara reliably keeps not only ancient secrets, but also offers researchers new mysteries. The sightings of unidentified flying objects (UFOs) in the vicinity of Vottovaara have been repeatedly reported by various witnesses. Some of these incidents took place directly above her. In 1987, an eyewitness reported seeing a luminous object on the mountain, which suddenly "disappeared abruptly in the dark," and then reappeared in a ring of fire that seemed to come from stones.

An even stranger message came from a group of tourists who heard "strange clicking sounds coming from rocks." They didn't even have time to get really scared when they heard a "strange buzzing" that "came from somewhere above, as if a huge fireworks were spinning there." An instant later, they saw a vision of a woman in a yellow robe. This sight, accompanied by mysterious sounds emanating from the stones, left eyewitnesses with the impression that they had witnessed something "on the verge between the divine and the devil."

Ancient secrets of the sacred mountain

Mount Vottovaara is the highest point of the West Karelian Upland - 417.3 meters above sea level. About 9 thousand years ago, in the place where Vottovaara stands, there was a powerful earthquake, as a result of which a giant dip was formed. This is how a natural amphitheater appeared in the center of the mountain, dotted with small lakes and rocks. Karelian scientists believe that Vottovaara is a unique geological monument. It turns out that it is not only geological, but also historical and cultural.

At the top of Vottovaara, on an area of about six square kilometers, there are huge rectangular stones, amazing structures made of stones in the form of a regular circle, called cromlechs by archaeologists, and about 1600 seid stones, laid in some mysterious order. Seid is an iconic boulder or rock fragment, the artificial character of its isolation from the environment is obvious, that is, it has clear signs of human impact. The densest concentration of seid stones is at the highest point of the ridge and along the slopes of the amphitheater. The stones are located mainly in groups of two to six pieces. Some large stones, weighing about three tons, are set on "legs", that is, stacked on several smaller stones. Who, when and why put these stones here?

"By the way, according to a number of researchers, the root" seid "(" sid "," set ", etc.) is very ancient.

In a word, seid is a place of worship for pagan gods and stones, which the Sami endowed with supernatural magical properties and powers, the place where the most ancient shamanic rituals are held, the meaning of which we can only guess now. As the world famous English archaeologist Paul Devere once said: “The stones are beginning to reveal some of their secrets, but so far we are just foolish kids in a megalithic kindergarten. We still have a lot to learn."

Usually such objects belong to the Sami tradition. But, as the Karelian archaeologist Mark Shakhnovich suggests, the Vottovaar complex is apparently much older and is part of the complex of megalithic structures erected along the European Atlantic coast from Spain to Norway in the Bronze Age.

For example, there is a version that the age of the complex is about 2000 years, and the idea of its construction belongs to the northern tribes of the Hyperboreans - the inhabitants of the ancient northern country of Hyperborea. According to Sami beliefs, this place is the focus of evil forces: ugly trees grow here, fauna is almost absent, the lakes are dead.

A lot of mysteries were thrown to scientists by one of the most amazing finds here - the "stairway to heaven". So they called it by someone unknown and when thirteen steps carved into the rock, ending in a deep cliff. Archaeologists declare with full responsibility: the local tribes in antiquity simply did not have the "idea of the staircase", just as other tribes did not have the "idea of the wheel". The question of the artificial or natural origin of the steps has not yet found its final solution. And the different ages of the stones indicate that the complex may have been formed for quite a long time. Most likely, on Vottovaar we are dealing with a grandiose cult complex, where sacrificial rites were performed for centuries.

New puzzles

An even stranger message came from a group of tourists who heard "strange clicking sounds coming from rocks." They didn't even have time to get really scared when they heard a "strange buzzing" that "came from somewhere above, as if a huge fireworks were spinning there." An instant later, they saw a vision of a woman in a yellow robe. This sight, accompanied by mysterious sounds emanating from the stones, left eyewitnesses with the impression that they had witnessed something "on the verge between the divine and the devil."

This case can be viewed as a typical manifestation of another phenomenon often associated with megalithic structures: this is a manifestation of the so-called psychic radiations, otherwise called "the field of memory of the place." One of the Moscow psychics, who experimented in a stone circle on Vottovaar, said that he saw images of people similar to priests moving between stones: “They stretched streams of energy, tying stones to each other,” the man explained.

Here is such an incredibly strange story. Well … As one of the participants of that trip noted very accurately, “the reality did not coincide with the idea. Everything turned out to be much more interesting."

"Acupuncture" point of the Earth

According to psychics, the energy of this place is unusually high, it "feeds" their inner strength, like a powerful battery. They call Vottovaara an "acupuncture" point through which the planet, as if through an antenna, carries out energy-information exchange with the Cosmos. It is rather difficult to verify this, but it is possible that the ancient inhabitants of these places might have known about the unusual properties of Mount Vottovaara, which served as the basis for the construction of the complex.

A number of Vottovaara researchers note the abnormal effect of the mountain on mechanisms, electronic equipment and even on the human body. In the reports of the expeditions, you can find many descriptions of how several members of the expedition saw the simultaneous stop of wristwatches at once, digital cameras suddenly found themselves overflowing with “fresh” flash cards, people could not reach a clearly visible target for hours. It was said that, being alone on the mountain, a person begins to experience a feeling of inexplicable growing terror …

It is not excluded that all this may have grounds. It was not for nothing that the Sami had a large number of prohibitions associated with visiting such places: it was forbidden to speak loudly, women and children were not allowed here, coming out of pure curiosity was not welcomed, some of the most "strong" stones were forbidden not only to touch, but even come close.

Did there exist sanctuaries with cult stones, in addition to Vottovaara, on the territory of Karelia in ancient times? The discoveries made by archaeologists in recent decades make it possible to give clear affirmative answers to these questions - these are sanctuaries on the islands of the White Sea - German Kuzov and Russian Kuzov, and the most ancient pagan monuments on Kolgostrov island in the Unitskaya Bay of Lake Onega, and many others.

Materials from the forum

In the summer of 2008, our group filmed a large number of video and photographic materials in the vicinity of Mount Vottovaara, Karelia. Initially, our goal was the monuments of the Sami civilization, megaliths, the so-called seids, 8-10 thousand years old. However, on the spot, we were interested in something else, namely, what these seids stand on. Without pretending to be another science-fiction theory, we invite our colleagues to geologists to assess and give versions of the origin of the objects of the correct geometric shape that we discovered at Vottovaar. The rock is gray quartzite, presumably with a density of 2.6-2.7 tons / cubic meter, a fortress on the Protodyakonov scale of 19. The dimensions of the objects are from 5 to 40 meters, the estimated weight is from 500 to 10,000 tons.

Object "Brick". The surface is as if processed, the cuts are clearly visible despite the erosion. The blocks fit together very precisely. The lines are perfect, not like a rock split. Inside one block, we found some cuts inside the rock, zigzag, similar to grooves. Here we generally threw up our hands, what is it?

Next, we found something that resembles a reservoir. The walls are perfectly finished, at right angles. We did not find any information about fortification works in this region. Apparently, this place is exactly in this way, maybe the ancient Sami saw it in a slightly better form, they also put seids in place of this (last photo). But what is it and how did it happen?
