The journalist of "Respublika" went to these very, pardon the expression, paranormal places. And not alone, but with a whole expedition accompanied by a guide.
It was from our guide, the summer resident of the Vatnavolok village of the Kondopozhsky district of the Petrozavodsk resident Vladimir Ivanovich Malyshev, that I heard last year about these miracles. Oddly enough, Malyshev is not a fan of ufology.
I want to make a reservation right away: both he himself, an elderly, respectable man, and the author of these lines, as well as all the “characters” of this story without exception, are not lovers of ufology and do not watch television programs about all the secrets of the century. So these persons are uninterested.
So what's the point? First, about the miracle glade. According to Malyshev, in the forest near Vatnavolok, in a place that old-timers call Gorely Bor, there is a clearing, or rather, a rocky talus with pits, where strange things happen to people. With the help of Vladimir Ivanovich, I met with some of those who had been there and listened to their stories.
Eyewitness testimony
The artist from Kondopoga, Ekaterina B., who has lived here in the summer cottage from an early age, discovered this place a long time ago and often goes there, as she puts it, “to recharge”. The glade has a positive effect on her - the tone improves, a certain euphoria appears, which can be seen even from the side.
At the same time, her 12-year-old nephew did not feel well here, the healthy guy started bleeding.

Debris
The way there is eighty kilometers, then a turn from the dirt road onto the timber road, where Malyshev greets us. We leave. Here the doctor of the expedition measures everyone's pressure just in case. We walk two hundred meters along a blueberry spruce forest, where, fortunately for us, the loggers have not yet begun to work, and here it is - a mossy scree about seventy by thirty in size.
Paranormal clearing
The first surprise and the first mystery: the clearing seemed to be a battlefield - it is dotted with pits resembling rifle cells with parapet facing east.
Whose battlefield is this?
Ahead is a line of small cells, behind them is a larger cell. Nearby there is still a debris, smaller - here, it seems, they also tried to dig a trench, but abandoned it. The trenches are old, pines and birches grow from them. It was as if the children were playing the war - they are so small that even a teenager cannot hide. Or were adult uncles in military uniform trying to dig in here in a real war?
And trees grow on the stones …
One thing is clear. With regret, I have to agree with the opinion of an eyewitness, Tanechka L., seven years old: “I think that these pits were made by people, not aliens …” Through the mouth of a baby, as they say!
Precambrian geology
Lavrov defines a placer as shale - a rock that was formed from hardened sea silt after a series of geological cataclysms and land uplift in the Precambrian era, the formation of the earth's surface.

According to the geologist, a person can be affected by deposits of uranium or mercury, but this is not the case (for this, by the way, the scientist did not take offense at us, saying that for science a negative result is also a result, and all the way then he told interesting stories from geological past and present of our native land).
Euphoria is canceled
As for the onset of some deviant states, here, thank God, nothing happened. True, after Afonichev's hike, the doctor registered a drop in blood pressure, my blood pressure returned to normal, and the photographer Larionov in the process of research behaved somehow very merrily and cheerfully (however, Vladimir Alexandrovich is like that by nature).
Then we went to Vatnavolok to close (or, conversely, open) the UFO issue.
UFO over Onego
“Aliens” were not seen in the village stretching along the picturesque shores of the Lizhemskaya Bay, but many unidentified flying objects were observed here. We talked with Nelly Antonovna Bolshakova, a local retired summer resident, a former chemical engineer at Kondopoga OJSC.
"In-from such a UFO flew" …
Around 1992, on a summer evening, from this very well-groomed garden, where we were talking, she saw a green glowing and phosphorescent object in the form of a regular ball moving directly towards her over the forest and lake. Frightened, she went into the house, and when she looked out, the UFO was gone.
Sister Malysheva and the aforementioned artist Ekaterina from Kondopoga also saw the UFO. Walking on a summer night along the coast ten years ago, she and two of the same teenagers, a boy and a girl, observed an object in the sky “in the form of a large white trolleybus with glowing windows”. Observed, according to Malyshev, UFOs and many other residents and summer residents of Vatnapvolok at different times and in different forms.
Let's summarize
I anticipate malicious comments: they say, in Vatnavolok, the tourist center, they attract so much attention to the place! But excuse me: let's say, a tourist arrived, but he was not provided with paranormal euphoria, or a UFO was not shown? Anti-advertising turns out! And if here, as Vysotsky sang, “they scare with plates, they say, mean, they fly, and the dogs bark and the ruins talk,” then why isn't Vatnavolok a tourist site?
Ufologists should take a closer look at this place.
But seriously, ufologists need to take a closer look at this place, separate the grain from the husk. It would be nice to ask the readers which of them have still been to Gorely Bor. And are there many similar places in the republic? In general, it is high time to find out: are we alone in the universe?
