At the same time, she has strange brain activity.

A psychology student from Canada claims that she can "leave" the body at will before falling asleep. A 24-year-old girl said that she can see herself floating in the air in a horizontal plane and sometimes look at her body while hanging in the air above it. According to her, she does not feel any emotions.

Researchers at the University of Ottawa believe that several areas of the brain associated with the perception of moving images are responsible for the sensation of "leaving" your own body and hovering over it. It is assumed that many more people may experience similar experiences than is commonly thought.

Scientists have classified the girl's experience as an extracorporeal experience (IVF). They find that the feeling of “out of body” is often accompanied by very strong emotions, such as shock.

Andra Smith and Claude Messier used functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to study the student's experience and see if she was indeed the first person to experience IVF of her own free will without having any brain abnormalities.

They found that IVF completely deactivates the visual cortex, but activates several areas associated with kinesthetic images and mental representations of body movements. And although scientists admit that the ability to "leave" the body at will is rare, they believe that this phenomenon is still not unique.

The idea is based on the fact that the student does not find anything unusual in her ability. She learned to "get out" of the body, even as a small child, and did this when in kindergarten she became bored during the daytime sleep. She grew up confident that everyone can do it, and was surprised to learn that only a few have such an ability.

Perhaps the ability is manifested in people who do not consider it to be something unique. Scientists also assume that most young children are capable of "getting out of the body", but without regular practice this skill is lost.
