People are known to be the most bloodthirsty and cruel representatives of the Earth's biosphere. And it happened not by chance - say scientists from Spain, who have concentrated on identifying the causes of natural human cruelty.
Which, according to Spanish researchers, was formed over millions of years of evolution, firmly entrenched at the most fundamental genetic level.
“We analyzed data on one hundred thirty-seven major families of mammals, paying increased attention to the causes of death among them. In general, mortality from violence inflicted by members of their own species is the highest in humans,”say the authors of the study from the University of Madrid.
Humans, the researchers found, exhibit violent behavior about six times more often than other mammals. Violence is thus a natural phenomenon for humans, based on genetic makeup.
“Yes, yes, we are unlikely to be able to get rid of cruelty without some very radical genetic modifications, because it is one of the most important components of our species,” the scientists note.
