This may sound supernatural, but scientific evidence demonstrates that there is a possibility that people have a kind of feeling that can be compared to the ability to sense a "force field" around them. In this way, dangers can be avoided.

Can people feel more than ordinary things?

A recent study published in a scientific journal looked at the phenomenon that allows people to "feel" things happening in the so-called peripersonal space, that is, the area around the human body.

Features of peripheral vision

You can also consider yourself to be such people if you are close to a situation where you suddenly see something with your peripheral vision.

Basic experiment with artificial hands

For the first time, scientists have succeeded in making people feel a strong form of this phenomenon. To do this, they used the good old experiment with an artificial hand. The participants sat at the table, their hands were out of their field of vision, but artificial ones lay in front of them. Then the scientists simultaneously touched the participants' real hands and their artificial counterparts. And participants reported that they often felt touching an artificial hand as if it were touching their real hands.

Results of a new interpretation of the experiment

In the new interpretation of the experiment, the participants' real hands were still touched, but the artificial ones were not. Rather, the contact was with the “magnetic field” of the hand, and participants reported that they could feel the touch. However, the effect disappeared if the distance exceeded about thirty centimeters. This is what scientists define as peri-personal space.
