Without a doubt, people who have grossly violated the law should receive the punishment they deserve. At the same time, fantastic works describe the prisons of the future in such a way that they are very different from the places of detention we are used to. "But why not bring a couple of ideas to life?" thought a group of French architects and presented the concept of a prison ship.
Architects Axel de Stampa, Sylvain Macot and Guillaume Deveaux from the Paris School of Architecture are responsible for such an unusual project. The name of the new project sounds like Panama Papers Jail, which reflects 2 facts at once: the first is that the floating prison will drift in international waters near Panama, and the second reveals to us the first alleged prisoners - defendants in the "Panama Papers" case, during which confidential documents from Panamanian law firm Mossack Fonseca & Co were leaked regarding information on private property and operations of Panamanian politicians. In addition, the company was a leader in its industry, but suffered huge losses after the leak.
As for the prison-ship, according to the available data, the cells with the prisoners will be located on special cables above the deck, and the cells will be of a "semi-open type".
That is, on one side there will be grids, and on the other - the ocean. In total, the project plans to build 3,300 containment cells, each with an area of about 9 square meters. In addition, there will be administrative buildings: a control center, a canteen, a workshop.
A sports ground will be located in the bow of the ship, and a greenhouse for growing crops will be located in the central part. Personnel cabins will be placed in the aft part, in the hold - water desalination apparatus.

Of course, the authors still have to finalize many details, but even now the project looks at least curious. And, of course, I wonder at what distance from the coast should the ship drift so that the prisoners do not have the opportunity to escape from the half-open cells and swim to land?
