Many were so happy about this event that in honor of the entry into the port of this flotilla, they built triumphal arches, hung up welcoming banners and, as they say, threw caps into the air. What caused such a stormy joy is not clear now for the Americans themselves. Especially those who gaze intently at the past.
Arches, probably, are not only for the meetings of their victorious army, but also, perhaps, a foreign one?
When the terrible happened, this squadron was just nearby and instantly sent several of its ships to help.
In addition to the Americans, our Russian ships were also nearby. We, just then, were rebuilding the fleet after Tsushima and conducted exercises in warm waters. Our heroic sailors, even earlier than the Americans, landed to help the victims.
