July 21, 1969 … On that day, a man first set foot on the lunar surface. The space mission consisting of Neil Armstrong (commander), Aldring Base and Michael Collins reached the Earth satellite on the Apollo 11 spacecraft. The mission of the lunar expedition was to land on the moon in the western part of the Sea of Tranquility. The landing of the astronauts was accompanied by the famous phrase: "The eagle landed on the moon." No less famous was another phrase said by Neil Armstrong after the first steps on the moon: "This is a small step for man, but a giant leap for all mankind." The rest of the conversations of the astronauts were also very interesting, but they are not so well known to the general public.
Here is an excerpt from the astronauts' negotiations with the mission control center in Houston during the Apollo approach to the moon:
Aldring: “We see something that looks like an open book. Right above the Sea of Tranquility."
Armstrong: "It looks like two rings, or rather, an open book."
Collins: "I changed the position of the sextant, now it is clear that it is in the form of a book."
Earth: "What are you talking about, where can there be a book on the moon?"
All the astronauts' conversations were recorded on tape. Suddenly there was a sound like the howling of a fire truck.
Collins: "Earth, you can hear me, remove the interference, this signal, otherwise I will soon go deaf."
Promotional video:
Earth: "This sound is not from the Earth, from somewhere outside, are you sure that there is no other ship besides yours?"
It should be noted that the Cold War was in full swing, and, obviously, NASA specialists had the thought that the Russians could overtake them here too.
Armstrong: "And now some music has begun, Earth, will you take this music away or not?"
Earth: “Everything works fine for us. The sounds of music come from you."
Oldring: “What nonsense! Will we agree or not? After all, this music comes from you!"
The next day, a man first set foot on the surface of an Earth satellite. Suddenly there was another sound like a signal. However, this time (everything was recorded on tape) the following words were heard: “Rabbi-el ardzdini endahu-iza-kun-alim”.
Earth: "Hey, who's talking?"
At this time, Armstrong walked on the moon. Again a sound similar to music was heard: "Ashgadu ala illa'a illallag …".
Earth: “Again, these flying objects? What were the words in that music?"
Collins: " Ashan mahatma rasamballah … "- it seemed to sound like that. It looks like Indian …"
Armstrong: “I heard it to the end. From her it somehow becomes pleasant. In my opinion, from African radio stations …"
Aldring: “I switched the frecans, the same sound again. This sound comes from the moon. This is not a radio wave. It's something hard to believe."
Earth: “Have you gone crazy there? Where does sound come from in an airless space?"
Collins: “Then what is it? Flying objects?"
Armstrong: "Flying objects can be in the form of a book?"
Earth: “Strange malaise. Or some kind of cosmic wave? Obviously, voices, books, sounds are all your mental vision?"
Armstrong: “You can't capture your thoughts with a camera! An imaginary voice cannot be recorded on tape!"
Earth: "Okay, but how can sound travel in an airless space?"
This information remained hidden from the general public for some time. Later, it was released by one of the NASA employees, a Syrian by birth, who recorded the negotiations between the astronauts and the mission control center.
When the astronauts returned to Earth, the cassettes were examined. During consultations with NASA Executive Secretary Al-Baz, it turned out that the phrase "Ashgadu ala illagya illallag", which the astronauts heard on the moon, is an excerpt of the adhan, the Islamic call to prayer, from Arabic it is translated as: "I testify that there is no God besides God."
Astronauts walked along the lunar surface, collected samples of regolith (lunar soil), installed scientific equipment on the Earth satellite: a seismometer and a laser radiation reflector, as well as a flag of the United States of America. A communication session was held with President Richard Nixon. The lunar module landing stage remained on the Moon with a plate attached to it, where a map of the Earth's hemispheres was engraved and the words: “Here people from planet Earth first set foot on the Moon. July 1969 new era. We come in peace on behalf of all Humanity. These words are engraved with the signatures of three astronauts of the lunar expedition and President Nixon.
Fourteen years after the flight to the moon, astronaut Neil Armstrong converted to Islam. It happened in February 1983 in Egypt, where he was invited to participate in a scientific conference. During the conference, the sounds of the adhan were heard from a nearby mosque into the conference room. Armstrong, who was sitting on the podium, turned pale and asked the question: "What kind of music is this?" It was explained to him that this is a special chant that performs the same function as the bell in Christian churches - it calls believers to prayer. And then Armstrong said: “This voice … This is what I heard when I stepped on the moon for the first time, from which I got goosebumps! I set foot on the moon without prayer, and now I will pray, you can consider me a Muslim."
Armstrong knew perfectly well that he had something to thank God for. If the circumstances were a little less successful, and the astronauts might not return to Earth.
Not so long ago, the limitation period of secret documents concerning the lunar expedition expired, and they were declassified. They shock anyone who reads them. It turns out that the possibility of the failure of the lunar mission was seriously considered at the highest level and even an obituary was prepared, which, if the astronauts could not return to the Apollo, was to be read by President Richard Nixon: “Fate decreed that the people who flew to the moon for the sake of its peaceful development, destined to rest there in peace. These courageous people, Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin, know they have no hope. But they also know that their sacrifice contains hope for all of humanity. Both of them give their lives for the sake of one of the most noble goals set before themselves by humanity: for the sake of knowledge and the search for truth. They are mourned by their families and friends;their fatherland mourns them; they are mourned by the peoples of the world; they are mourned by the motherland Earth itself, which risked sending two of its sons into the unknown distance. Their expedition united all the peoples of the world into one single people; their sacrifice will strengthen the unity of all people. In ancient times, people peered into the sky in order to see the image of their heroes among the constellations. Since then, not much has changed - except that our heroes are people of flesh and blood. Others will follow and will certainly find their way home. Their searches will not be in vain. However, these people were the first, and they will remain the first in our hearts. From now on, everyone who would not fix their eyes on the Moon will remember that a tiny corner of this alien world forever belongs to humanity. The situation on the moon really got out of control several times.
Immediately after landing on the moon, astronauts began pumping air out of the helium tank; and helium, cooled to -268 ° C, penetrated into the fuel line, due to which an ice plug formed there. The pressure in the fuel line blocked by this plug began to rise. If it burst, fuel would enter the engine and cause it to explode. The agonizing expectation of the explosion lasted half an hour, the astronauts breathed a sigh of relief only when the danger had passed: the wire withstood the load, and the rays of the rising sun melted the ice plug.
On a planet devoid of atmosphere, astronauts lay in wait for another danger. In the event that even a small meteorite pebble got into any of them, the protective spacesuit would most likely have been pierced. After depressurizing it, the astronaut would have only two minutes left to reach the ship, climb the stairs and climb through the narrow hatch, but it was almost impossible to do all this in a heavy spacesuit.
Fortunately, the walk on the moon ended without such troubles. At 06:11 the astronauts boarded the shuttle and closed the hatch behind them. But then they found another big trouble.
“I looked around and started packing,” recalled Edwin Aldrin. - When I looked at the floor, I saw a small black thing. I immediately understood what it was …”It was the engine ignition button that had fallen off, without which it was impossible to take off. Of a couple of hundred buttons and toggle switches, it was this critical one that broke! The incident was reported to Earth. After tense negotiations with Houston, the astronauts tried to turn on the apparatus by pressing a ballpoint pen instead of a button. However, this did not give a result: the engine did not work.
Then Armstrong and Aldrin opened the pyrovalves that separated the tanks with helium and fuel: under the pressure of compressed helium, the fuel had to rush to the engine. As a result, the pressure in the helium tanks should have dropped, and in the fuel tanks - increased. However, the valve of the second helium tank did not work this time. Only on the second attempt did the pressure in the second helium tank drop, and the engine started working. At 5 hours 57 minutes on July 22, 1969, the astronauts rushed to Earth. The conquerors of the moon had to worry a lot about their fate.
