Earthlings are used to considering the moon one of the most mysterious celestial bodies in the solar system. It seems that our satellite is not alone

Saturn's moon Iapetus also has a number of unusual features, which has given rise to many theories about its true origin. A number of scientists seriously suggest that these features are direct evidence of the artificial origin of the satellite. In particular, this opinion is shared by the international organization "UFO Hunters" (UFO Hunters).

One of the most mysterious moons in our solar system, Iapetus has been the cornerstone of much controversy since its high-resolution images became available. Among the most mysterious features of the celestial body is the hexagonal shape, because of which ufologists consider it not a natural, but an artificial satellite.

In addition, scientists still cannot come to a consensus about how this moon was formed in the past, and whether it was a moon at all. UFO Hunters believe that the mysterious images taken in 2004 by NASA's Cassini spacecraft reveal very important details that may serve as evidence of its artificial origin.

This is, for example, a giant line stretching along the equator of Iapetus, as well as a large crater at the top. The centers of the light and dark regions of Iapetus coincide very precisely with the centers of its hemispheres, but the border between them does not pass exactly along the meridian: it is curved like the lines on a tennis ball.

“Everything resembles Star Wars, this is a very strange pattern, as if someone did not live on the satellite, but they definitely landed,” says a member of the research group. “Several famous scientists have put forward the theory that Iapetus is a constructed object of artificial origin. We return again to Hollywood fairy tales, showing only a millionth part of the truth. Perhaps this is a deadly weapon, cleverly disguised as a celestial body."

Iapetus is one of 62 satellites orbiting Saturn. The space object was discovered by Giovanni Domenico Cassini in 1671 and is named after a titan from ancient Greek mythology. The so-called "wall of Iapetus" stretches along its equator - a regular line of 16 thousand kilometers long and 20 kilometers wide, consisting of mountain ranges and individual peaks. Ufologists say that this "wall" holds together two equal parts of a space object.

"It looks like two separate pieces originally existed and they were welded together with a huge welding machine."

The mountain ranges of the "wall" reach an impressive 20 kilometers in height, which is about twice the height of Everest, which is why many consider this mountain range to be the highest in the solar system.

According to the Internet edition Inqusitr, Iapetus may be the product of "deliberate modification of an existing natural object" or an artificial structure built by an alien civilization. Scientists, in turn, offer their own explanation for the unusual mountain system of Iapetus. They declare that this is melted and re-frozen ice and do not see anything strange in the fact that a heavenly body was surrounded by a mountain range.

Be that as it may, strange mountains are not the only feature of Iapetus. Like our Moon, it is always turned to Saturn with only one side. Various photographs show that this object is not spherical (like other moons of the solar system), but a regular hexagonal shape, which may also indicate its artificial origin.

Official astronomers, of course, do not agree with this opinion and argue that when Iapetus was still a very young space object, it expanded very quickly and a thick layer of ice froze on its surface, which, in turn, created an uneven shape of the celestial body.

The book by science fiction writer Arthur Clarke "2001: A Space Odyssey" tells about this moon of Saturn. According to the plot, a signal was sent there from a mysterious "black monolith" - an object created by aliens. Stanley Kubrick made a film based on this book. Science fiction writers are very often right in their hypotheses and predictions. And, perhaps, someday we will learn the real truth about Iapetus.
