The new infographic is interesting for its scale. One glance is enough to understand that under the modest designation "Japan's Maritime Self-Defense Forces" is one of the most powerful fleets in the world, which has at its disposal advanced ships equipped with the latest technology.

In the upper left corner are aircraft carriers, the basis of tactical potential. These are two Izumo-class helicopter carriers and two Hyuga-class helicopter carriers. In this case, the designation "helicopter carrier" is not entirely correct for "Izumo". Back in December 2018, it became known that they wanted to be upgraded to accommodate the fifth-generation American F-35 fighters. As noted by Reuters, we are talking about 45 of these machines.

Among other ships of interest are the Atago-class destroyers equipped with the Aegis combat information and control system. The ship's standard displacement is 7750 tons. Attention is also drawn to the powerful Congo-class destroyers (four ships in total), which are an analogue of the American Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyers (URO).

Japan does not have nuclear submarines, but its Maritime Self-Defense Forces boast a large number of diesel-electric submarines of the Soryu and Oyashio types. It should be noted that "Soryu" is an improved version of the "Oyashio" type. The main differences of the new submarine were the increased displacement and the installation of an air-independent Stirling engine. In total, Tokyo is to receive 12 Soryu-class submarines.

The aviation of the Maritime Self-Defense Forces deserves a separate consideration, which is primarily represented by an impressive number of P-3C anti-submarine aircraft. This is a licensed version of the American Lockheed P-3 Orion. A large number of different versions of the Mitsubishi H-60 multipurpose helicopter - Japanese versions of the American Sikorsky SH-60 Seahawk, which, in turn, is based on the famous UH-60 Black Hawk, also draws upon itself.
