Scientists are using the 100-meter Green Bank telescope (West Virginia, USA) to study the star KIC 8462852, around which structures erected by aliens may be located.
Previously, experts suggested that artificial structures were created around this star that affect the brightness of its glow. Last fall, astronomers from Yale University said that over the past seven years, the brightness of KIC 8462852 has decreased by 25%. This, according to some scientists, may indicate the existence of a Dyson sphere around the star, created by aliens.
Now the specialists of the Breakthrough Listen project, which was created by Yuri Milner and Stephen Hawking, will study the Tabby star system. The project is scheduled to have regular eight-hour sessions that will be repeated over two months.
Recall that the star KIC 8462852, also known as the star Tabby, is located at a distance of 1.5 thousand light years from Earth. She attracted the attention of many astronomers after it was noticed that the brightness of the glow of this star can change in a short period of time. There was even a version that a highly developed alien civilization built around the star something similar to giant solar panels that collect the energy released by the star.
