UFOs have again been caught taking an interest in oil refineries. In late January and early February, a mysterious luminous object appeared in the night sky over the largest refinery in Jamnagar, Gujarat.

It circled over the complex for a long time before disappearing as suddenly as it appeared. Three days later, the object reappeared, this time shortly after dawn. The object was bright and spherical. Campaign officials reported the UFO sightings to the government and provided surveillance footage.

The Air Force, Navy and Coast Guard have been on alert and the Department of Defense has increased security measures for the refinery, The Indian EXPRESS reported.

The incident took place not over a simple factory, but over a strictly guarded facility. The plant is located on the shores of Kach Bay, near the border with Pakistan, and has long been viewed as a potential target for a terrorist attack from the air and sea.

On January 30, RIL PMS Executive Director Prasad wrote to Minister M Veerappa Moily:

“On January 24, 2013 at about 8:30 pm, one unidentified bright object, the size of a volleyball ball, was seen hovering over the refinery. It was seen that the UFO flew around the refinery 4 times before disappearing."

“This could be seen as a one-off occurrence, however, on the morning of January 27, the security officers again witnessed the same phenomenon between 6.30 and 7:00 am. Cameras installed at the factory have captured several UFOs."

Prasad noted that "the local security forces are not sufficiently equipped to deal with the high technology of aerial aggressors and are unable to prevent UFO intrusion into the protected facility," and asked Moily to contact the Ministry of Defense in order to "upgrade and strengthen the security of the complex." and "investigate the incident as a matter of urgency" to "prevent any possible future UFO infiltration of the facility."

Jamnagar's two refineries process 62 million tonnes of crude annually, accounting for 27 percent of India's total refining capacity. The incident at the refinery complex can significantly affect the production of oil and gas for the needs of the industry and the population of the country.

Despite the danger, the plant is guarded by only 250 members of the security forces, who ensure the security of the perimeter from the sea and the city.
