There are many places that are called "wonderful". There is always something going on: now, for no reason, ravines or deep gaps are formed out of the blue, then strong, recently built Houses are crumbling, then the earth is cracking … Why suddenly? Many versions are given to answer this question. However, versions and hypotheses are not yet true. But what actually happens, how to find the keys to the secrets of underground catastrophes?
UDMURT NAVIGATION
In the summer of 1990, panicky rumors spread across Udmurt about the expected "strong blow that would shake the earth." They said that the city of Tchaikovsky, in the Perm region, would be the worst. It will be in the very center of a 7-8 magnitude earthquake. There has never been anything like this in these places, and therefore fear seized the inhabitants of the republic. But the greatest excitement was experienced by those living in the regional center Sharkai. The saddest fate was prepared for him: because of the voids in the bowels of the village, the village was threatened with going underground.
Conjectures and prophecies were overgrown with intriguing and frightening details, the mood of the people became more and more alarming, and then the Izhevsk radio decided to "defuse the situation" - and the broadcast was broadcast by a well-known psychic in the republic from the city of Votkinsk. However, he did not reassure his own and other fellow citizens, but, on the contrary, aggravated the situation by naming the date and hour when the catastrophe should occur …
Something similar was observed a little earlier in neighboring Tartary. There, too, an “underground storm” was expected, which was predicted by a clairvoyant from the village of Kukmor. The soothsayer was very active and annoyed the administration of Naberezhnye Chelny with phone calls. Note and Nizhnekamsk.
Soon, in the east of Tataria, it really shook, but only slightly. It is believed that the reason was the intensive oil production in the area, which resulted in the formation of "unstable underground voids". Another explanation also appeared: the effect on the seismic activity of the reservoir of the Nizhnekamsk HPP. Both versions are quite logical and have a scientific basis. But how correct such explanations of the event are is still uncertain, since no instrumental studies have been carried out.
And here is the prediction of the disaster in Udmurtia. The local authority's speech on Izhevsk radio roused the people. “Black August” was expected as a plague invasion, but nothing happened on the first, tenth, or the last day of the month. Then there was calming down, and today they talk about the “coming catastrophe” with a smile.

UFO UNDER THE VENEV
But if in Udmurtia, as they say, everything worked out, then in the Tula region, not far from Venev, a powerful explosion thundered, which caused a lot of gossip and speculation as "an action that had to be." No official explanations have yet been sounded, but all sorts of versions fell on the gullible in an irresistible stream. The simplest of them - they say it was military pilots who lost a bomb - did not succeed. There was much interest in the UFO statement.
Just curious, and especially those who were known in the district as ufologists, astrologers, and soothsayers, reached the scene of the incident. The elliptical funnel measuring 60 by 46 and 10 meters deep was impressive. Interest in it was fueled by the fact that the military categorically denied any involvement in what had happened: there were no flights that day, besides, all the bombs were on the ground.
Supporters of the alien version were convinced that they saw a strange object in the sky that rushed to the ground. There were "eyewitnesses" who observed a bright glow before the explosions, heard a shrill, whistling sound. Someone claimed that there were two mysterious objects, that in shape they resembled folded saucers with many holes around the circumference. It was said that after the explosion, the second "saucer" hung over the crash site for some time, and then quickly flew up …
The debate has become large-scale. At the bottom of the funnel, we managed to find scraps of wires, however, quite ordinary ones. The search for something more substantial was not successful. I managed to visit the scene much later than what happened. The funnel still inspired mystery, but a very prosaic explanation has already appeared: the explosion near Venev was the work of geologists.
V. Zhukov, the chairman of the regional committee for emergency situations and ecology, learned the following details: geologists had drilled thirty wells, placing about four tons of explosives in them. This was done on the lands of the Grayvoronsky state farm without the knowledge of the management of the farm. The explosion was carried out without notification. It has subsided strongly, so gossip has gone …
ALIENS IN SASOV
The town of Sasovo, in the Ryazan region, has also gained fame as a "wonderful place". And the "miracle" happened twice. In April 1991, it exploded in a deserted field. It rushed violently. A huge funnel left by a mysterious explosive was explained by amateur researchers with utmost boldness: aliens act through their agent. There were no other versions. "They" - that's all. There were witnesses, eyewitnesses, and the authorities of informal science. But "formal" science intervened and blamed … saltpeter. Thrown into the field, covered with earth, it caused the explosion.
The explanation was accepted. A convincing argument was also the fact that such explosions in a confined space are well known in science. They took place in the holds of ships carrying the ammonia liter, in railway wagons, in warehouses … The famous explosion in the German city of Oppau, which occurred in 1921, is also included in the catastrophe register. And there saltpeter became the reason.
A year passed, and an explosion thundered again in Sasov. This time the "informals" triumphed. The second explosion left behind. the cone-shaped funnel, as they claimed, was luminous, did not fit under the lost aerial bomb, and also under the saltpeter, there was a natural cataclysm or something extraterrestrial.
At the end of 1992, scientists from the Institute of Physics of the Earth of the Russian Academy of Sciences appeared at the site of the explosion. They brought the equipment with them, measured, examined, discussed the results. When I arrived in Sasovo, this work was in full swing. The head of the expedition, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences K. Skovorodkin, refused to talk about the final conclusions, noting that haste would only stir up sensational interpretations of what had happened. But we managed to find out some objective data.
In the cone-shaped funnel, a weakening of the magnitude of the natural magnetic field is recorded, but gravimetric survey allows us to assert that in the area of the phenomenon, the magnitude of the acceleration of gravity is increased. The observations are interesting already because a similar picture is characteristic of earthquakes.
It would seem that there will be no sensation, but then something unexpected happened. A man came to the Ryazan Committee on Anomalous Phenomena and said: "I made the explosion in Sasov."
The one who came to the committee confidentially said that the aliens taught him to travel through the Universe, revealed a number of earthly secrets to him and help him draw energy from the Cosmos. N. spoke about his flights to other worlds as about his usual action. But he clarified that he flies "not in the physical, but in the astral body." He described this “body” as a luminous ball. He clarified that he began to fly over Sasovo since February 1991, on one of these flights, and received the task to blow up the fertilizers remaining in the field.
So the version about ammonium nitrate reappeared.
MYSTERY OR SCIENCE?
However, there are two more versions that claim to be true. The first connects the explosion in Sasov with the activation of tectonic processes. They were accompanied by atmospheric phenomena (this is how the luminous formations are explained) and tremors, which caused shifts of karst rocks. They, in turn, were washed away by groundwater.
The second hypothesis is more sensational, although it deprives observers of the "miracle" of the assumption that they saw a space fireball or an alien ship. It follows from it that the funnel was formed as a result of the fall of an ice block, similar to the Tunguska meteorite. Here we saw a lot of similarities: sound accompaniment, luminosity, push …
So, there are many versions and assumptions: aliens, a meteorite impact, an earthquake, underground discharge zones, the death of a UFO … But none of these judgments, even those based on instrumental research, does not fully explain the mysterious phenomenon.
But scientists from the Institute of Chemical Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences joined in the search for the keys to the secret. The head of the laboratory of this institute, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics K. Shvedov, believes that there is no mysticism in the Sasov explosion. There is science. According to the results of the investigation by the prosecutor's office, it can be assumed that more than 30 tons of saltpeter were stored at the site of the explosion. Under certain conditions, she could well jerk. Where are the traces, where is the evidence, where is the physical evidence? Shvedov answers all these questions in the following way: “The explosion is different in that it covers up its tracks, as a result of which it becomes difficult to restore the initial situation.”
Let's say so. Let us assume that other versions put forward by science do not at all require the attraction of mystical conjectures or something else. But it is too early to put an end to Sasov's "miracle". And it is no coincidence that new expeditions are going to this area.
