The National Archives of Great Britain yielded to numerous requests from citizens demanding to declassify documents related to the question of the existence of UFOs
On May 14, the first issue of "classified materials" was published on the archive's website, which recorded the events from 1978 to 1987.
The documents describe possible collisions with UFOs or aliens
forms of life, and the corresponding conclusion of the ministry is given.
The materials do not contain authentic evidence of contact with aliens. However, they contain numerous UFO reports that the Department of Defense has checked in order to prevent a possible threat of an invasion of British airspace. In some cases, “witness” reports have been analyzed by air defense experts.
The very specialists dealing with UFO problems in the Ministry of Defense are skeptical about the theory of the existence of flying saucers. According to Nick Pope, a former Defense Department civilian, “There is no conclusive evidence of a 'flying saucer in a barn'. However, the Defense Department was never able to refute the evidence received.
One piece of evidence was obtained by the agency in 1985, when police officers saw a white light over the Horsell neighborhood in Woking. Their report was signed: “The report is genuine. The two competent officers are somewhat perplexed."
Among the testimonies is the highly implausible story of a man who wrote that in 1985 he came into contact with aliens, visited their bases in Wirral and Cheshire, and saw how a UFO was shot down next to the city hall in Wallacey.

The author of the letter intended to organize a meeting between the alien, whom he named Elgar, and the British government, but the meeting never took place.
All these materials will be freely available within a month, the rest of the UFO documents will appear on the archive website within three to four years.
A similar event recently took place in France, where the National Space Agency published similar materials on the site, after which 220 thousand users visited the site in just a day.
