The pointed peaks of the Andes, the blue glaciers of Patagonia, the harsh fjords of Tierra del Fuego - this is what attracts tourists from all over the world to Chile.
But this country, located at the very end of the world, is famous not only for its amazing nature. Parapsychologists say that the chances of seeing a UFO here are much higher than in any other corner of the Earth.
According to statistics, more than half of South Americans believe in flying saucers, and almost every Chilean can boast that he saw a UFO with his own eyes. Researchers can only hypothesize why aliens have chosen this continent, and Chile in particular. But the fact remains: the flow of testimonies about their visits to these lands is not scanty.

Scientists are haunted by ancient Chilean mysteries - giant drawings in the Atacama Desert and silent idols of Easter Island. There is still no consensus on who made them, and most importantly - why? Chile's leading ufologist Rodrigo Fuensalida claims that more than 60% of reports of paranormal activity come from the Maule region. Therefore, professional hunters for "plates", having barely set foot on the Chilean land, go there. More precisely, the Altos de Lircay Nature Reserve, which is one of the ten best places in the world to meet UFOs.
The reserve gained fame as a "hot zone" in the early 90s of the last century. From January 1995 to July 1996, researchers recorded two or three unexplained phenomena a week here. During the day, strange objects resembling steel saucers “hovered” in the sky for hours. And at night, luminous spheres moved chaotically in space, then plunging into the waters of the Lirkai River, then soaring upward at a breakneck speed.

But in these places people often disappear too. And although some of them were lucky enough to return, no one was able to explain the reasons for their absence. One of the most recent cases occurred in April 2002. Several students from the University of Santiago de Chile stopped for the night on the shores of Lake Laguna de Alto and began to collect tents. But then their attention was attracted by an unusual glow over the rocks nearby.

And although no one guarantees a meeting with aliens, there are more and more people who want to go on an exciting trip every day.
In November 2010, an air show took place over the air base in El Bosco, Chile. After some time, the CEFAA Commission, which is studying mysterious air phenomena, received a video showing the movement of an incomprehensible object. The problem is the alleged UFO is visible in 7 different frames.
The main point of this literally fantastic route is the El Enladrilado plateau, where, according to eyewitnesses, there is the best chance of seeing flying saucers. It is located at an altitude of 2,200 meters above sea level and is a curious rock formation, consisting of 223 huge stone blocks, each weighing at least a ton. Many believe that the plateau serves as a "runway" for aliens who often visit the reserve because of the abundance of minerals and minerals in it.

Tourists from all over the world come here to "hunt" for UFOs. But in order to see a mysterious something in the sky above the desert, they, as a rule, have enough of a simpler technique. Those who were lucky enough to observe unusual phenomena here often did without any equipment at all. In the end, one cannot fail to notice burning disks moving at great speed, pulsating lights, a bluish glow reminiscent of the northern lights, which is, in principle, impossible in these latitudes.
But the main secret of the Atacama is its geoglyphs. Giant drawings inscribed on the slopes of low hills are full of mysticism and beauty. Scientists believe that "ancient graffiti" was created between 600 and 1500 BC, although they were only discovered in 1961. Geoglyphs occupy a gigantic territory - more than 150 thousand m2. The size of each drawing ranges from 1 to 120 m. They mainly depict animals, birds, humanoid creatures and geometric figures. The most famous drawing - "The Giant of Atacama" - a huge 86-meter humanoid figure with antennae on his head. Local Indians call him Tarapaca and revered as a deity who often came here from space.
Most researchers believe that geoglyphs are the work of human hands. But what was their purpose? Some are sure that these are just road signs informing travelers about the intricacies of the route. Others believe that these are records of certain astronomical phenomena. No less reliable is the version that messages to space visitors are encrypted in giant images. There is no consensus on this yet.
THE RIDDLE OF ISTUKANOV
Almost 4 thousand km from the coast of continental Chile in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, the mysterious Easter Island is lost. In ancient times, this magic piece of land was called Mata-ki-te-Ragi - "eyes looking at the sky." Following the Polynesian settlers, the island is often called Rapa Nui, and its people who have gone into oblivion are called Rapa Nui. Before the European sailors, who first reached the island on the bright Christian holiday in 1772, he appeared as a devastated, completely lifeless piece of land. But from all sides the travelers were surrounded by mysterious stone idols.
Until now, it has not been possible to figure out where the indigenous people of Easter, who built stone giants, disappeared. According to one of the versions, the natives simply exhausted biological resources, cutting down the forest for the needs of agriculture and construction. Such imprudence could lead to soil erosion and loss of fertility. The erection of the notorious statues (in Rapanui - "moai"), designed to appease the gods, most likely accelerated the process, which resulted in hunger and cannibalism. But even if this is so, then what was the true purpose of the idols?
The descendants of the Rapanui have preserved in their memory only fragments of ancient legends. When asked how their ancestors managed to sculpt, drag and place the stone giants on pedestals, they answered: "The statues walked by themselves." According to the Swiss explorer Erich von Daniken, these and many other mysteries of Easter Island can be explained by the theory of paleocontact. He is sure that thousands of years ago the Earth was visited by alien beings and it was they who shared with people their astronomical, technical and occult knowledge, which formed the basis of amazing civilizations, including Rapanui.
There are 997 idols on Rapa Nui. Seven of them are installed on the coast and look inland. The others are looking towards the ocean. And only one figure froze in an unusual position - kneeling. There is something special about her. She seems to be trying to scream, but her larynx is tightly closed by tuff - frozen ash from the Rano Raraku volcano.
Despite the diminutiveness of the island (you can get from one end to the other by car in 20 minutes), you can spend an eternity exploring it; There are other sights here that are not related to idols. For example, the sacred city of Orongo and the Te-Pito-te-henua ceremonial platform - "The navel of the earth" in Rapanui. According to legend, an invisible “umbilical cord” emerges from here, connecting the Earth with other worlds.
