The mystery of the so-called black helicopters has been around for years and has been linked to UFOs, disfigured cattle corpses and other unexplained phenomena.
Since 1993, however, sightings of black helicopters in the US sky have become commonplace, sometimes escorting dark triangular UFOs, and sometimes appearing in isolated groups. These objects got their name because of the resemblance to military helicopters. They are black and do not bear any identification marks on board. Eyewitnesses often spot them flying, usually just above the treetops, in sparsely populated areas of the United States. Their flight speed does not exceed 160 kilometers per hour. The glass of the helicopter cabins is painted black and it is impossible to see what is happening behind them.
Most often, black helicopters were observed in Napa County (California) and mainly at night. The media was slow to report unusual UFOs, as they believed the latter to be military targets.
Napa News correspondent Mathias Grisi became interested in the phenomenon and decided to conduct his own investigation. Local Air Force Command has denied any connection with the black helicopters. Grisi spoke with many witnesses. Here is the story of one of them, a resident of Napa, Henry Richardson:
- At night I could not sleep, and I went out to get some fresh air. Bright stars shone with an even light, Suddenly, in the northeastern part of the sky, the stars disappeared, as if they were covered by clouds. I noticed a dark spot moving across the sky towards Napa. A few minutes later I saw a huge triangular object against a lighter background and a helicopter next to each corner of the triangle. In the silence of a summer night, the characteristic sound of propellers was heard. Both the triangle and the helicopters were completely black.
After interviewing hundreds of witnesses, the reporter found out that the objects that appeared in the sky of Napa County were different in design and appearance. Most often, witnesses saw flying objects similar to the UH-1 military helicopter used by US troops in Vietnam. During the flight of this helicopter, which was called "workhorse" by soldiers during the war, a characteristic, far-off sound is heard. It is produced by double blades. Therefore, you can know about the approach of a helicopter even before it appears in the field of view. Obviously, objects of this type were seen by Richardson.
The second type of black helicopter Grisi named "Cobra" because of the similarity to the military helicopter AN-1 COBRA. These objects produce a similar sound, but are significantly larger than the UH-1. "Cobras" are very narrow, observers who saw them from the front claim that from this perspective the cars are almost indistinguishable against the background of the dark sky. In the corresponding AN-1 COBRA helicopter, this effect is caused by the design feature, the pilot is located above and behind the officer in charge of weapons. Similar to coast guarding.
The latter is distinguished by its high flight range and reliability and can even land on the roof of a car. This type of helicopter is used on the travels of the President of the United States. The correspondent managed to find only two witnesses who saw the "sea stallion". The event took place on March 22, 1998 in a restricted area near Groom Lake. The observers managed to photograph a single object. The photograph is currently at Grisi's.

Another type, named "banana" for its resemblance to the military helicopter CH-47, cannot be confused with any other. The object really resembles a banana in shape, the CH-47 was designed to carry heavy loads and is capable of taking on board a lot of people and equipment. The "black" version of the helicopter has been seen several times. In 1996, on the shores of Lake Michigan north of Chicago, a banana landed and a group of men in black uniforms emerged.
The incident was reported to the local sheriff, but when he arrived at the scene, the black helicopter, along with the passengers, had already taken off. The purpose of the landing remained unclear. Unmarked bananas have been spotted in Oklahoma on several occasions, where they have appeared in groups or accompanied by cobras. One of the witnesses even managed to shoot the "black bananas" with an amateur video camera. Military experts, whom Grisi showed the tape, claim that the objects are very similar to the CH-47 helicopters.
The next type (code-named "hybrid") is a cross between a helicopter and an airplane. The propeller is located at the top just like a conventional helicopter, and the wings give the resemblance to an airplane. "Hybrids" have appeared in Illinois, accompanying the triangular UFOs that were often seen in the state's skies several years ago. In a number of cases, witnesses reported some kind of cargo carried by the "hybrids" on long ropes.
One of the eyewitnesses to the appearance of a group of black "hybrid" helicopters on November 20, 1997, Olaf Croes assured Grisi "that on the wings of the objects there was a large inscription" American Birds of War, Incorporated. " After a long investigation, the stubborn correspondent found out that in the state of Illinois, like in all other states of the United States, there is no registered company with the same name, the objects named by Grisi "Hercules" are similar to military helicopters C-130 Hercules.
Both are characterized by a very low and slow flight, as well as a large payload. The Hercules were most often seen in Northern Ohio, where they appeared singly, sometimes in groups, and sometimes accompanied by triangular UFOs.
Grisi has published a number of articles and made a radio report on the black helicopter issue. He found over a hundred witnesses to their appearance in California and other states. In all cases other than the above, the objects did not have any identifying marks (which, generally speaking, casts doubt on the Olaf Croes report). The reporter contacted military experts who are unanimous that all types of black helicopters, except for "hybrids", are very similar to military helicopters in service with the Air Force. However, the press service of the Air Force claims that black helicopters have nothing to do with them.
It happened that eyewitnesses saw helicopters landing, next to which there were people in black clothes with objects very similar to automatic weapons.
According to several families from Massachusetts, in March 1997, men in black flew in by helicopter every day. At the same time, the cars did not carry any identification marks and flew at a low altitude, just a few meters above the ground. In some cases, witnesses, including several police officers, tried to approach the objects, but they instantly flew away. Not a single case of aggressive behavior on the part of black helicopters or their passengers was recorded.
Here is an excerpt from an interview Grisi had with New Mexico police officer Matthew Hughes:
- On December 24, 1996, while on duty, I received an order by radio to go to one of the nearby farms, where, according to the owner, the robbers arrived by helicopter. I decided that this was the delusion of a madman, but I had to obey the order. Since my car was not far from the farm at the time of the message, I arrived at the scene within ten minutes. It was late evening. At the far end of the farm, near the outbuildings, stood a small apparatus, very much like a helicopter.
As far as could be seen at dusk, the helicopter was completely black. Not finding the owner of the farm, I got out of the patrol car and moved in the direction of the strange apparatus. At the same moment I heard a characteristic whistling sound, the propeller blades began to move and the "helicopter" flew away. No traces were observed in the place where the escaped vehicle stood. At the house, the owner of the farm met me with a rifle in his hands, the rest of the family hid in the basement.
The farmer said that a black helicopter landed about an hour ago, and two men in black got out of it with automatic weapons in their hands. According to the owner, unknown people entered the shed that served as a storage for fertilizers. He began to shout to strangers to get out of the territory, not daring to come closer. The strangers did not answer and paid no attention at all to the owner of the farm. I had to call the police.
Hughes wrote a report on the incident on the form, but he is not aware of whether any investigation was carried out into this incident. The Grisi dossier contains information about the appearance of black helicopters in Colorado, Texas, Tennessee, Michigan, Nebraska, Wyoming, Montana, Ohio, South Dakota, Minnesota, Massachusetts, New Mexico, Illinois and California.
Articles about these UFOs were published in some media, in particular, the Los Angeles Time, Kilgore News, Denver Post, but the information presented in them is extremely scarce. Observations of black helicopters were recorded from October to May, the maximum activity falls in December and March. According to Grisi, objects appeared most often in Colorado, followed by Texas.
During his investigation, the journalist met an amateur ufologist from Texas, Thomas Adams, who independently recorded dozens of observations of "helicopters" in different states. Analyzing the collected information, Grisi came to the conclusion that there are some kind of underground bases to service these flying machines. As the facts show, such bases are located in Texas and Colorado, and possibly in other states.
In the United States, there are underground bases for both military equipment and people. Rumors reached the reporter that there was a secret bunker under the hotel in Byte Sulfur Springs, West Virginia. The entrance to the underground premises is located in the basement of the hotel and is closed by a heavy lead door. The bunker contains supplies of water and food, electronic equipment and living rooms. The correspondent managed to find an eyewitness who previously worked at the hotel. He claimed to have met with the people serving the bunker. According to this witness, the bunker was built at the same time as the hotel, and it is intended for congressmen in case of a nuclear war.
According to the journalist, the rarity of press reports and the reluctance of the authorities to investigate the origins of the UFO indicate that the black helicopters are secret military developments of the Pentagon and the National Security Agency. The inability to locate UFO bases indicates that the latter are located in closed military zones.
Not everyone agrees with Grisi. Many ufologists believe that the phenomenon of black helicopters has an extraterrestrial origin. According to Thomas Adams, aliens are exploring the Earth and for this purpose they have created vehicles that resemble helicopters to humans, so as not to shock them with the appearance of the inhabitants of the Earth. Currently, Grisi is continuing his investigation, and the mystery of the origin of the black helicopters is still on the agenda.
Black helicopters in Russia
This story was told by Marina K., a middle-aged woman, a resident of the city of Dimitrovgrad, Ulyanovsk region. In September 2012, at night, she was awakened by the noise of a helicopter engine over her five-story building. Not turning on the light in the room, she went to the window and from her fifth floor saw a "helicopter" against the background of stars.
She did not understand helicopters. The flying machine with a propeller, which looked and rattled like a real helicopter, did not cause fear in her at first. Fear came later, when the "helicopter" suddenly made a sharp turn and hovered in front of her window, and then began to approach it sideways.
The cockpit had a wide window. In it, illuminated by a bluish light, the pilots were visible - two men and a woman. The roar of the engine suddenly died down, but the helicopter continued to stay in the air. The large window of the helicopter came close to Marina's window. The room was flooded with blue light. The glass on board the helicopter sank down and the female pilot leaned out of the cockpit and opened the window frame wide.
The woman was quite young, she looked no more than 20. She looked attractive. Dark hair, slightly disheveled in modern fashion, dark eyes. Next to her was a man, a little older than her. Both were dressed in light, loose clothing. The third pilot was sitting in a seat at the helm.
Only the woman spoke. The man was silent. She firmly told Marina that she must immediately get into the helicopter. They have orders to deliver it urgently to its destination. This is an order from the authorities. Failure to comply threatens with major troubles, up to and including detention. As she spoke, she leaned over the windowsill and seemed about to move into the room.
Frightened Marina ran out of the apartment, went down to the courtyard and hid behind the garages. Only half an hour later did she dare to go out and go around the house. The window of her room was wide open. The helicopter was nowhere to be found.
She returned to her place when dawn broke. I did not find any traces of someone else's presence in the apartment. Later, Marina learned that at least three residents of her entrance heard a helicopter drone at night and saw a flying car. It had never occurred to her that night that they might be aliens. She cannot explain the reason for the fear that rushed over her. He remembers that incident with a shiver.
“On the windowsill of the apartment, in the places where the pilots of the mysterious“helicopter”touched it, luminescent spots were found,” says Vyacheslav Katalymov, a Samara ufologist, commenting on the incident. - On the edge of the tin cornice, to which the UFO flew close, there is a brownish trace of unknown origin. As for the fear of the witness, it can be explained by psychological impact.
Apparently, with his help, the aliens intended to force the woman to move into their apparatus in order to carry out the abduction. The most remarkable thing about this story is that in the morning after the incident, the witness discovered that her watch was one and a half hours behind.
