A sensational discovery about the origin of the Moon was recently made public among geophysicists - thanks to modern research work, one of the numerous hypotheses, expressed back in the seventies of the twentieth century, about the formation of an earth satellite - the Moon - from the wreckage of the mysterious planet Theia, collided with our planet more than 4.5 billion years ago.
The moon is our closest neighbor. But to this day, mankind knows little about him, a great many riddles and assumptions have been expressed, but there are few reliable facts.
According to this theory, the Moon was formed from the debris of Theia, which was the size of Mars. Scientists have always been intrigued by the fact that there are rocks on the Moon similar to those on Earth. Everything turned out to be quite simple - Theia and the Earth were very similar. Until recent research, scientists thought this was unlikely. However, having simulated the moment of the formation of the solar system, astrophysicist Hagai Perets, found that the probability of the identity of the planets is approximately 20-40 percent. Other lunar parameters correspond to this: dimensions, mass, composition, the absence of an iron core.
According to experts, the Earth and Theia were at the time of the formation of the solar system at approximately the same distance from its center, which means that they could well have formed from one matter.
