Today, ufologists from all over the world are celebrating International UFO Day. The date of the celebration - July 2 - was not chosen by chance: on this day in 1947, near the American town of Roswell, a "flying saucer" with aliens on board crashed
It has already become a tradition that tens of thousands of people come to the city these days to take part in a kind of festival, which hosts seminars, lectures, special expositions and the famous costume parade of aliens.
At any time of the year, there is no shortage of tourists in Roswell who come to see the area where the mysterious object fell. In the United States, where a third of the population believes in UFOs, rumors are actively circulating that the US military is stubbornly hiding substantial evidence that a UFO crashed near Roswell.
The Americans cannot reconcile themselves to the official explanation of the Roswell incident. It has long been established that it was not a UFO that fell on the outskirts of the city, but the equipment of the top-secret probe of the Mogul program for tracking Soviet nuclear tests.
Nevertheless, in Roswell, tourists continue to be told a mysterious story that happened 61 years ago. On July 8, 1947, the US Air Force reported in the newspapers that the military had a flying disc discovered at a ranch in New Mexico in the Roswell area. A few hours later, Brigadier General Roger Rami, Commander of the 8th Air Force, issued a rebuttal.
Perhaps there would not have been so much noise around the find of the military if, a few years later, Major Jess Marcel, who in 1947 was the chief of intelligence at the Air Force base, had not made a sensational confession. In an interview, he stated that the probe story was made up for cover. According to Marcel, "these were objects of unearthly origin."
As for the alien crew of a flying object, its existence is known only from eyewitnesses. When the disaster struck, archaeologists were nearby. One of them said that he saw how the military carried off the bodies of the "aliens". His words were confirmed by some of the military.
The lack of direct evidence of the existence of UFOs does not prevent the small town of Roswell from attracting more than 200 thousand people annually. Thanks to the disaster of 1947, this city literally flourished. The non-fading UFO industry brings the city's economy about $ 5.2 million in profit.

During the days of the UFO festival, there are no vacant places in the hotels of the city, and souvenirs with "alien" symbols can be bought at every corner.
Tourists are shown at once four crash sites of a flying saucer in the vicinity of the city. However, only one of them has a monument "certifying" the authenticity of the "crash site".
The inscription on the monument reads: “We do not know who they were. We don't know why they came. We only know that they changed our perspective on the universe. This sacred site was commemorated in July 1997 and is dedicated to creatures who met their fate near Roswell, PA. New Mexico, July 1947."
