This star is an analogue of the Sun, which is located at a distance of 95 light years from Earth. A year ago, near HD164595, astronomers discovered a large exoplanet, "hot neptune", whose mass is 16 times that of Earth and which orbits the star in 40 days.

Despite the fact that life on this planet and its satellites is hardly possible, two teams of astronomers from the SETI Institute for the Search for Extraterrestrial Civilizations at once heeded the calls of their Russian colleagues, who spoke about the need to conduct constant observations of HD164595, and began observing this star this Monday. One is led by SETI Lead Astronomer Seth Shostak, the other by Dough Vakoch, president of the METI program, which aims to connect with aliens, not just find them.

Shostak and Vakoch said the HD164595 will be monitored by the ATA telescope, SETI's primary instrument, and a number of other instruments available to members of the organization. The main doubts are generated by the signal strength - it is too strong to be abandoned by a civilization like ours in the event that a radio transmitter emits waves in all directions at the same time.

Such a signal could be generated only by the so-called "Kardashev civilization of type II", which has mastered the energy of the sun (in this case, HD164595) for its own needs. On the other hand, if this radio flash was intentionally directed towards the Earth, then such a scenario is possible.

The discovery of this signal, according to Gilster, will be one of the main topics for discussion at the annual meeting of the Permanent Council of SETI at the International Astronomical Union, which will be held September 27 in Guadalajara, Mexico. According to scientists, the essence of this signal is not yet clear, but they almost completely exclude the possibility that it could be generated by noise and interference.

Apparently, HD164595 will become another unusual mystery of space, like the recently discovered star KIC 8462852, around which a high-tech "Dyson sphere" or the famous "Wow!" 1977 year.
