Like any other mysterious place on Earth, Baikal is necessarily associated with UFOs. In general, if we trace the statistics of the appearance of unidentified flying objects in all regions of Russia, as well as in other countries, we will get an unambiguous answer: no more such objects are registered on Baikal than in any other place where many people live.

But Baikal is still a separate case. As you know, not only the lake itself is a continuous unknown mystery, but the atmosphere that reigns in these places is very remarkable. A huge number of shamans and superstitions will convince anyone that the lake is not simple. And if not simple, then somewhere nearby there must be a UFO, as ufologists believe. After all, all these phenomena are interconnected.

Whether it is true or not, it is impossible to say for sure, but the fact that unidentified objects are indeed sometimes announced next to the lake, over the lake and even in the depths of the lake itself is obvious. Of course, we cannot say for sure what such evidence refers to, but they are, and this suggests that something unusual may indeed take place.

The first half of 2006 is worth noting among the latest "space attacks". Then, in the area of the village of Bolshiye Koty, it was often possible to observe many fireballs that were randomly flying in the sky. They were no larger than a soccer ball in size, so many thought it was some form of life, not an aircraft.

In early 2007, a UFO rattled the nerves of the residents of Irkutsk, which is located near Lake Baikal. A certain object hung in the sky for a very long time, and many people saw it. However, skeptics say it was Venus. By the way, this celestial body can easily be mistaken for a UFO, because in some of its phases it can be very large and easily visible to the eye.

In the same Irkutsk, a funny incident had occurred before, when, having seen Venus, the crew of one of the planes simply refused to take off. If pilots can be wrong, what about ordinary people? If, of course, it really was Venus …

Such cases are not uncommon in densely populated Irkutsk. It can be assumed that they are associated with the lake. But what would aliens or some other creatures need in Baikal?

Promotional video:

I personally disagree, but ufologists believe that the lake could become a base for alien ships. No other place on Earth is more often positioned as an alien base of aliens than Antarctica and Baikal.

With Antarctica, everything is clear: it is inaccessible to humans and there you can easily hide. But what does Baikal have to do with it, when there are vast expanses of even deeper oceans, in which one can hide much more successfully than in plain sight almost in the center of Eurasia?

However, are there many places in Europe and Asia that could have such a great depth as Baikal? There is none of them. If hypothetical aliens had a question of distance to human civilization and, at the same time, an ideal shelter, then they would certainly stop at Baikal. All this looks quite plausible if aliens were really present on our planet, which we cannot know.

It is curious to note, but in favor of the probable location of a certain base in the waters of Lake Baikal, there are amazing evidences and incidents that cannot be kept silent. To begin with, the scientists themselves still cannot give one hundred percent guarantee regarding the depth of the lake.

As already mentioned in the article "The Mysteries of Baikal: Tsagan Earthquake and the Siberian Ocean", it can be more kilometers. If this is the case, then it is precisely the unknown spaces that could be quite successfully used to build a completely invisible underwater inhabited colony.

There is some evidence that a huge searchlight beam and other strange lights can sometimes be seen from the water. So, in 1977, a group of tourists allegedly noticed a strange strip of light in the water. When they reached the boat, the strip disappeared, but a luminous circle appeared, which gradually disappeared.

It is difficult to assess the credibility of such evidence, but it is quite regular. Very often people observe how lights flicker under water, how balls and even disc-shaped objects that are already familiar to our minds fly out of it.

Another dubious case occurred in 1982, when, during a training exercise, military divers met strange humanoid creatures up to 3 meters tall in a lake, which moved under water without scuba gear, but with some kind of spherical helmets. Unverified sources claim that the military urgently tried to even detain the unknown creatures.

Everything happened at a depth of about 50 meters, which requires special attention of the scuba diver, since this is a dangerous depth from which you cannot quickly get out. Military divers threw a net over one of the creatures, but something threw them up sharply, and the whole group was struck by decompression sickness. They say some of them even died.

Believe it or not, it's up to you. But it is very difficult to imagine that an event of this order in 1982 could not be classified for 100 years, especially since everything happened to people under oath.

Decompression sickness is a decompression sickness expressed by the boiling of nitrogen in the blood and body tissues, which turns into a gaseous state. It occurs during a rapid ascent from a great depth, when the aircraft board is depressurized at an altitude of more than 8 km, etc. Very difficult to treat; in severe cases, a person dies or remains disabled for life, unable to move independently and experiencing severe pain when trying to do it.

There is also a hypothesis that an unknown intelligent life form could have formed in the lake. This assumption could explain the case of strange humanoid creatures in 1982. Could a developed civilization have formed in Lake Baikal?

If we talk about the fact that a hitherto unknown creature lives in the lake, then the road is open. But it’s hard to imagine that this creature would live there and develop at a tremendous pace. This is probably impossible.

However, it should not be ruled out that the point is not at all in the most incredible and fantastic theories, but in a simple defense secret. Since I never found a single hint of a solution, I will try to present my own arguments and known facts in favor of the possible presence of a secret military base in the coastal rocks of Lake Baikal.

As you know, military theorists of all countries have always dreamed of military bases as much as possible hidden from the eyes of the enemy. Wherever they were built and whatever was done with them. There are hundreds of underground facilities on the territory of the former USSR. Literally entire cities were built somewhere in the rock or thick soil, and none of the local residents even knew about it. Some of these objects still exist.

They can house bomb shelters, secret factories, missile silos, research institutes, hazardous production and much more. All this suggests that the military might well have been tempted to use Baikal for their own purposes. In general, they did it for sure, but to what extent we cannot know and therefore we will not exclude the possibility of the existence of a relatively large and still capable base.

Let's look at the pros first. There were already precedents for the construction of such bases, and the facilities were of impressive scale. Let us recall at least the story of Balaklava - a huge military base for submarines, created in the rocks of the Crimea.

This refers to the object 825 GTS (or K-825; sometimes called the "Museum of the Cold War") - an underground submarine base in Balaklava, a secret military facility during the Cold War, located in Balaklava Bay.

Object 825 GTS was intended for shelter, repair and maintenance of submarines, as well as for storing ammunition. The depth of the canal reaches 8 m, the width ranges from 12 to 22 m. The total area of all premises and passages of the plant is 9600 m², the area of the underground water surface is 5200 m².

The underground complex was built for 8 years - from 1953 to 1961. During the construction, about 120 thousand tons of rock were removed. To ensure secrecy, the export was carried out at night on barges into the open sea. The facility was built first by the military, and then by the metro builders, which was due to the complexity of drilling the rock.

After closing in 1993, most of the complex was not guarded. In 2000 the facility was transferred to the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In the period from 1993 to 2003, the former base was actually looted, all structures containing non-ferrous metals were dismantled. In 2014, the facility came under the jurisdiction of Russia and became the southern site of the Military Historical Museum of Fortifications of the Russian Federation.

If there was such an idea, then why not an idea of a similar multifunctional base in the rocks near Lake Baikal?

If this was the case, it would become clear where the underwater lights come from and why some areas of the coast are under strict protection under the pretext of protecting the reserve.

Skeptics might argue that such a base could be built in any other place, and not in such a prominent place. However, one cannot agree with this. If Baikal is unique literally from any point of view, then why shouldn't it be unique for the military for some reason? Maybe they have a factory there that needs large supplies of clean water or something like that.

In addition, the very geographical position of Lake Baikal allows it to be just in such a place, from which the same distance to a good half of the busiest places on Earth: Europe, Asia, North America. Only one place, and it can appear in both attacking and defense plans for most potentially dangerous countries.

Among the arguments "against" there is only one weighty argument: the tectonic situation in the Baikal region implies a very high seismic activity, which makes any complex and risky projects doubly dangerous and more risky.

Enormous efforts and incredible funds can go down the drain due to the strong shock that is observed once every several decades. Who needs it? If the military is not interested in more than just a convenient location, then they would never take such unjustified risks.

But if they needed the uniqueness of the lake, then nothing would be a hindrance to the global construction. Moreover, Russian engineers can build structures that are capable of repelling a direct hit of a nuclear charge. What can we say about simple earthquakes?

In general, Baikal is probably fraught with a lot, and thinking about it, one cannot exclude a single option. If the lake is so unusual, then the unusual can continue further, expressed in the most fantastic versions.
