A 16-year-old teenager in Springlands, a suburb of Blenheim, New Zealand's South Island, filmed a rotating white UFO on January 18, 2017 (see video below).
A strange disk shining with white light hovered for a long time in the night sky and revolved around its axis. 16-year-old Josh Marshall filmed this extraordinary sight while visiting his friend. Off-screen, you can hear him telling his friend that the subject has a hole in the center.
“I'm not sure what it is, but it's definitely not an airplane, not a star or a satellite,” said Josh, who had no idea what a donut-shaped UFO suddenly appeared in the sky.
The young man reported that the disk appeared after a severe thunderstorm with lightning and hovered in the air for about 40 minutes, until the clouds obscured it. He suggests that the thunderstorm and the appearance of a UFO are somehow related.
“The object actually stayed in one place for a long time, but the stars moved around it,” added Josh.
John Holmes, an expert at the Wellington Astrological Society, examined Josh Marshall's video and was unable to identify the bright white object. He confidently stated that this could not be the planet Venus, since the bright disk does have a dark hole in the center.
The video was also sent to New Zealand Air Traffic Control. A spokesman for the department said there were several aircraft in the area. But he was unable to confirm that the bright, luminous object was an airplane.
