Two or three thousand years ago, the Mediterranean Sea resembled a boiling cauldron. Like huge bubbles, powerful kingdoms arose here, which, having existed from the point of view of the history of civilizations for only a few moments, disappeared to make way for new ones, even more brilliant. As a legacy to mankind, they left numerous legends that have become the basis of modern culture. The seven wonders of the world became their symbol.

But, in addition to the wonders of the Mediterranean, in the north, in England, and as it turned out relatively recently, on the Kola Peninsula, traces of another civilization, perhaps even more significant for mankind, have been preserved.

The stone labyrinths are the symbol of this amazing civilization. They are found on the coast of the northern seas: in England, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia. They also look the same: double circles and spirals made of small stones. The center itself is usually marked by a slightly towering pile of stones or a separate large stone - and nothing else.

The largest and most famous of them - Stonehenge, or, as the ancient British called it, "Dance of the Giants", is located in the southwest of England. Even with the help of modern technology, it is very difficult to create such a huge majestic structure of giant boulders weighing up to 50 tons. The ancient British simply could not imagine that Stonehenge was erected by human hands. Therefore, in some legends, the great magician Merlin, playing the magic lute, made the blocks first dance, and then fold into a giant stone ring. Other legends tell of giants who lived before the Flood - they were the ones who were able to build Stonehenge.

The British began to explore the amazing, amazing construction for a long time. Already in 1655, a book by John Webb was published with detailed descriptions and plans of Stonehenge "The Most Wonderful Antiquity of Great Britain."

Several centuries have passed, but until now, the "Dance of the Giants" poses a lot of still unrevealed tasks for scientists, archaeologists, astronomers, ufologists, and literally in every stone a secret is hidden here. These secrets can be divided into three groups: how was the stone labyrinth built, why was it built, and where was it built?

Scientists have found that the stones from which Stonehenge was erected were taken 210 kilometers away in the Poesselli Mountains, but this is along a straight road. They were taken along the rivers, dragged on skating rinks as much as 380 kilometers. Meticulous scientists estimate that the construction of Stonehenge took at least 300 years and about one and a half million man-days of labor. To organize work of this magnitude several thousand years ago seems absolutely incredible.

Why were such inhuman efforts necessary? On the solstice day, crowds of people come to Stonehenge today to watch the sunrise over the so-called Heel Stone, because only over it suddenly a bright ray of the sun is suddenly born.

Astronomer Geral Hawkins in the 60s of the last century first suggested and then proved that Stonehenge was used in ancient times as an observatory, which made it possible to carry out astronomical observations with high accuracy. The scientist even discovered something like a "calculating machine" - 56 holes located along the perimeter of a regular circle at an equal distance from each other. By shifting stones from one hole to another, it was possible to predict lunar eclipses.

Not only the British are attracted by the mysteries of the "Dance of the Giants". Several years ago the mathematician and astronomer Valentin Tereshchin and the chairman of the Samara UFO Club Vladimir Avinsky visited it. Studying the geometric features of the mutual arrangement of the individual elements of the megalithic structure, they made sure that the dimensions of the Earth and the Moon, as well as the sizes of the planets of the Solar System, were encrypted with high accuracy. Moreover, the comparison of these data with modern data did not exceed a few percent.

English geologists believe that Stonehenge was erected between 1900 and 1600 BC. There were no centralized states at this time. The peoples, who were mainly engaged in hunting and primitive agriculture, did not need to build such a gigantic structure. And, most importantly, even the most civilized inhabitants of the Mediterranean countries did not know at that time the true sizes of the planets and did not possess accurate geodetic instruments with which the stones of Stonehenge were placed. Therefore, Russian researchers are confident that the "Dance of the Giants" is material evidence of the arrival of paleocosmonauts to Earth. They were the ones who were able to inspire the ancient British with the idea of building a grandiose monument in which astronomical, and possibly some other information was encrypted,as a kind of gift from aliens to future generations of earthlings.

Another hypothesis of the appearance of stone labyrinths, including Stonehenge, in some way echoes the ideas of Tereshchina and Dvinsky, was proposed by another Russian researcher of the unknown, Andrei Nikitin. Studying the labyrinths and everything connected with them, he drew attention to the fact that in Northern Europe, where, in contrast to Russia, cultural continuity was not interrupted, ancient legends associate them with the existence of a "little people". In Western Europe, these are elves, trolls, gnomes, in Eastern Europe and Asia - the legendary Siirta people. Labyrinths in legends and tales, as a rule, represent the entrances to the underworld. It is not revealed to everyone, but only to those who know the spells or accidentally find themselves nearby at the moment when the entrance opens unexpectedly. Therefore, labyrinths are considered by Nikitin as part of a system with which one can communicate with a world different from ours.

"What is it? - Nikitin asks questions. - A reflection of the meeting of the then inhabitants of the Earth with some aliens that has come down to our time in folklore form? Inhabitants of parallel worlds? " The idea seems too daring. But let's not rush to assess. When a physicist, a specialist in satellite dishes, was shown a drawing of one of the stone labyrinths and asked: "What is this?" - he, without hesitation, replied: "This drawing is very similar to the classical form of broadband transmit-receive antennas."

And one more interesting observation. Some labyrinths, especially the most ancient ones, such as Stonehenge, are located on clear geomagnetic anomalies. The question immediately arises: was this an accident, or did the ancient inhabitants know how to use geophysical fields to maintain communication over great distances? More often found younger labyrinths were built after the departure of the "little people". They were made by new inhabitants, purely formally transmitting the form of the ancients.

The hypothesis of a connection through labyrinths with parallel worlds and inhabitants of other star systems sounds fantastic. But is it no less fantastic looking! astronomical knowledge, embodied in the structure of Stonehenge and outstripping the real capabilities of earthlings for several millennia?
