The name of the legendary politician, former British Prime Minister, journalist and writer Winston Churchill, more than half a century after his death, again hit all the news feeds. This time, thanks to aliens …

Provocative article

In the summer of 2016, an Israeli astrophysicist, author of works on popularizing science and mathematics, Mario Livio, worked in the archives of the Winston Churchill Museum in the American city of Fulton. He spent more than one day at the museum, having managed to make friends with almost all the staff. One day, the director of the museum told Mario about the manuscript stored in the museum's storerooms. Allegedly an essay entitled "Are we alone in the universe?" Churchill wrote back in 1939 for the News of the World. But they refused to publish it - the publication seemed to the editor very "frivolous" (it said about aliens from other planets and flying saucers, which was pseudoscientific), and Winston abandoned it.

In the 80s, almost 20 years after Churchill's death, his wife, having started repairs at home, took the archive of her husband's unpublished works to the museum. Among them was this provocative article. But they did not dare to put it on public display - again because of the piquancy of the topic: the reflections of such a respectable and respected historical personality about the aliens could cast a shadow on his reputation. And research into the authenticity of that essay has never been conducted.

Having received a unique document in his hands, Mario Livio gave it to be checked for various examinations. As the results of the research came from the laboratories, he became more and more surprised. “The first thing I did was get an opinion on the age of the document,” Mario told reporters. - It turned out that both paper and ink are at least 70 years old. Then came confirmation by handwriting from forensic scientists, who, comparing my samples with the officially released Churchill documents, confirmed that they were written by the same person."

The scientist showed the results of the research to the director of the museum.

“We discussed how best to proceed - to hold a press conference and publish the facts, or first publish an article in scientific journals, - continues Mario. - Holding Churchill's work in our hands, we suddenly - almost simultaneously - drew attention to one detail that we had not noticed before. The article ended with a signature

"PS". P. S! Hence, somewhere there was a continuation! We decided to look for him. Once again we looked through all the storerooms, and we were lucky - we found this very continuation!"

They exist and they are among us

Another handwritten essay by Churchill was found in the archives of the museum. It, as follows from the signature, was written in the late 50s. The title of the work was the same as the first one: “Are we alone in the Universe?”, And its first lines said: “I am returning to the topic that has occupied my brain for more than fifteen years. I had time to reconsider some of the views on my first job and make sure that my bold assumptions are not unfounded … They exist, and they are among us."

The examination confirmed the authenticity of Churchill's second article. The director of the museum still did not know how best to deal with the sensational materials.

“The CIA helped us,” says Mario Livio. - In January 2017, the US Central Intelligence Agency declassified archival documents about UFOs. Millions of classified pages have appeared in the public domain, they have ceased to be a secret, and it turns out that the Vlai have recognized the existence of extraterrestrial intelligence, and the existence of aliens has already ceased to be bad form. It was as if they officially declared to everyone: the aliens are nearby, they exist, and this is a fact! Against this background, hiding Churchill's materials no longer made any sense, and we officially announced to news agencies: Churchill's letters about UFOs exist and prove that he not only believed in life on other planets, but also at one time, that is, more than fifty years ago, communicated with those who came into contact with the aliens, and, perhaps, himself saw a UFO."

Now both essays by Winston Churchill are on display in the museum, and anyone can see them. What is said in these works?

Habitable zone

“Today we know of thousands of dead bodies orbiting other stars, so the discussion of life beyond Earth is widespread,” says Mario Livio. - The uniqueness of Churchill's essays is that he wrote them long before exoplanets were discovered and the Drake equation appeared, which measures the chances of life in the universe. Despite the fact that he reflected on the habitability of the planets in our solar system, but also looked further."

The dominant theory of planetary formation in 1930 suggested that a star passing near the Sun caused some of its matter to separate. Such an unusual event would make planetary systems like ours a rarity. Churchill acknowledged this, but expressed skepticism about this model, pointing out that double stars are a common phenomenon. He also argued that the presence of liquid water is a basic requirement for life on other worlds. Despite this, he recognized that other fluids could be alternatives to water.

“Modern knowledge does not allow us to make such an assumption, but someday science will come to the conclusion that living organisms can exist in other liquids,” Churchill writes. - Thus, living organisms, no matter what form they take, can exist in any place, regardless of whether this or that star is far from the Earth or close. If there is liquid, there must be forms of living beings, because this is their habitable zone. Even microscopic, small, invisible to the human eye. Alien inhabitants - what are they? We are afraid that they are bigger and bigger than us, but what if these are small specks of dust … What if in order to seize the Earth, they do not need to declare war at all, but it is enough to dissolve in air to find themselves inside each person, taking possession of his mind and actions …"

Interstellar travel

Further - even more interesting and sensational. Churchill reflects on interstellar travel.

“This is not fantasy, but reality … Other planets are too far away to be reached naturally. Even if a mechanism is invented that can move in space, it is unlikely that it will be able to withstand the overloads that will be required to overcome giant distances. But the fact that aliens from other planets come to us is indisputable, and there are many cases of their observation in different cities and countries. Someone controls them!

How do they manage to get here while staying alive? The answer lies not in technology, not in cars, or in fuel, but in physics. Such travels are possible through special tunnels through which you can move. Aliens from other planets know about the location of these tunnels and skillfully use them, and we have yet to discover them. And I believe that sooner or later this discovery will be made, interstellar travel will become a reality, and flights to Mars and Venus will take place in the near future. I hope I will be lucky enough to live up to this moment."

Churchill admits that most of all he himself would like to visit the sun, but this dream is impracticable. “The sun is just one star in our galaxy, which contains several thousand million other stars,” he writes. “With hundreds of thousands of nebulae, each containing billions of suns, chances are high that there are many planets out there whose conditions allow for life. If you ask me if I believe in life on other planets, I will answer: “I don’t believe, but I know. I know that she is. Churchill's second essay ends with these words.

* * *

In 2010, the UK's National Archives declassified documents that were classified as classified for 50 years. From them it followed that Winston Churchill, by his decree, prohibited the pilots of the Royal Air Force from talking about encounters with unidentified flying objects. This move was associated with fears that reports of UFOs could provoke panic in the community. Who knows, maybe for this reason he didn't write more in his essays. Although ufologists are convinced: he already said too many things that other politicians have never allowed themselves …
