It all began with an unusual explosion at three o'clock in the morning on October 27, 1975 in the area of the village of Maine (Maine, USA), which alarmed two inhabitants of the mobile home, David Stephens and Glen Gray. At this hour, the young people were still awake, they were shift workers and had just returned to their temporary shelter from the factory. Their house shook quite tangibly and they decided that somewhere, perhaps, a plane had fallen. Stephens, without hesitation, suggested a ride to Lake Thompson and on the way to see what could have caused such a strong explosion. 18-year-old Gray happily agreed: such a nighttime adventure brought something new to such a painful workday for him. If young people knew what they were going through, they would rather smash their used car with sledgehammers in order to refrain from this trip,would close in a house and hide with their heads under the blankets …
Alas, it is not given to us to know the future, and young people, giggling cheerfully, drove along Highway 26 towards their fate. At such a sleepy time, the highway was absolutely deserted, no one rushed in search of the crashed plane, it seemed that the mysterious explosion did not disturb anyone in the neighborhood except two friends. As Gray and Stephens later recalled, they had some premonition of adventure that night, and in fact, they did not keep themselves waiting long.
Super racers reluctantly

They later calculated that the speed of the car was about 200 km / h and this on a bumpy dirt road! However, the car did not shake and it moved unusually smoothly. The car passed Oxford and headed for the lake, but before reaching it, it suddenly stopped at the edge of a cornfield. Two bright beams shot directly onto the road from the corn. The guys sighed with relief: they thought that there was a truck in the field and, perhaps, its driver would explain to them all these night oddities. Air Show - Teeth Compensation?
It looks like they were just being controlled, otherwise how can you explain the fact that Gray, unexpectedly for himself, turned onto a country road towards Tripp Pond, located south of Lake Thompson. After this turn, a cylindrical UFO suddenly appeared in the sky 150 meters away from them. This time it was bright white and glowed all over. The car suddenly died out, the headlights went out, the radio went off. Stephens and Gray had no choice but to sit and watch what was happening. The UFO, meanwhile, rose even higher into the sky and hovered about 400 m from them. After a while, two more disc-shaped UFOs appeared in the sky, along the edges of which blue, red and green lights shone. Maybe in compensation for the extracted teeth extraterrestrial "dentists" staged a real air show in front of their friends. "Plates" were running over the pond,making unthinkable turns at right angles at full speed, they instantly braked, soared up and again dived to the surface of the pond. Meanwhile, in the eyes of the astonished Stephens and Gray, fog appeared above the water surface, and the pond itself began to grow and turned into a vast sea … Whether it was an optical effect or a hallucination induced in the minds of friends - it is not clear. Suddenly, from the water, like a submarine emerging, an island appeared, which had never been on this pond. One of the "plates" hovered over him, and a thick fog enveloped this whole picture. He was being carried straight to the car. As soon as the car hit the fog, the friends shuddered from the suddenly screaming radio. Although the cylinder was still hovering in the sky above the car, the engine started and Stefans and Gray were finally able to leave. It was already seven o'clock in the morningand the whole UFO adventure took about three hours. The most interesting thing is that the friends definitely knew that for so long they had not watched the UFO, there was an effect of "lost time", which is characteristic of all cases of abductions of earthlings by aliens.
Alien ship
After this case became known to the authorities, numerous ufologists have repeatedly met with friends. Most of all, of course, they were interested in the question of what happened to their friends during the "lost time" when they were unconscious. Yielding to their persuasion, Stephens agreed to undergo a session of hypnosis in order to restore the full picture of this strange incident. The session was led by Dr. Herbert Hopkins. Under the influence of hypnosis, Stephens recalled how a bright beam from a UFO hit their car, after which he found himself in a domed room with portholes through which it was possible to see the car on the ground, which was driving Gray. There was a door in the room, it suddenly opened, and something terrible appeared before Stephens. “The creature, about 1.5 m tall, was dressed in gray clothes,” recalled the abducted earthling.“The shape of his head was like a light bulb. Hair and mouth were missing, and slit eyes were almost invisible. " Thin arms and legs with three fingers, between which were stretched membranes, white skin and a small round nose complemented the portrait of the alien. Of course, at the sight of such a creature, Stephens experienced severe stress, this was reflected even during a hypnosis session, Hopkins made a lot of efforts to calm his patient.
So, the alien entered the room and telepathically conveyed to David that they had been watching him for a long time and he had nothing to fear from them. He led him into another room, where four more "bulb-shaped" ones were waiting for them. They took his blood for analysis, and when the aliens wanted to put him on the operating table, Stephens firmly pressed one "bulb-shaped" fist on the face … The alien considered it beneath his dignity to somehow react to his blow, this most likely made David accept. He himself lay down on the table and some kind of apparatus began to hover over his body, obviously, he carefully scanned his body, because the examination lasted more than 30 minutes. How he lost his teeth, Stephens did not remember, apparently, aliens who had neither mouths nor teeth,they were especially interested in the purpose of his jaw and could not resist the temptation to get several samples of such strange formations for them, and since they were afraid of the furious resistance of the earthling, they may have put him to sleep for a while. David only remembered how they took trimming of his hair and nails, because after this procedure he was given an injection, then he woke up already in the car next to Gray.
Much to the regret of ufologists, Gray refused to undergo a hypnosis session, he said that he did not want to be a toy for journalists, sensationists and UFO researchers.
Victims of "plate addiction"
Ufologists, of course, were a little fed up with their friends, two researchers even lived next to them for some time after the incident. It was they who noted that Stephens and Gray developed a real "cymbal addiction". So, Stephens one evening took natural space objects - stars and planets - for UFOs. Friends also told about all disembodied voices sounding in their heads, soaring black cubes penetrating through the walls … A typical "black man" in black clothes and sunglasses even came to Stephens, who strictly warned him to keep quiet about his contact with UFO.
The incident in Maine was so unusual that many serious ufologists considered it a fiction. Firstly, no one had met "bulb-like" humanoids before Stephens and Gray, and secondly, the behavior of friends seemed illogical to many - why did not they try to escape near the lake when the car stalled, but sat in the car for quite a long time until they arrived yet two UFOs?
However, it's hard to believe that friends knocked out their own teeth and came up with such a fantastic story that Stephens could repeat even under hypnosis. Alas, this case simply does not fit into the classical framework that many ufologists, who so zealously scold official science for this, have managed to establish for themselves. In many ways, contact in Maine corresponds to other cases of abductions of earthlings by aliens, however, extraterrestrial "dentists" pulling out teeth before Stephens and Gray have not yet come across …
