The Bible, as we know, gives scientists a huge number of riddles. Many of the events described in it are similar to myths, but upon closer examination, these myths suddenly turn into reality …

Way east

One of such significant events is the crossing of the sea by Moses and his fellow tribesmen who fled from Egypt. Here is how the Bible tells about it: “And the Lord said to Moses: why are you crying to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go, and you lift up your rod and stretch out your hand over the sea, and undress it, and the children of Israel will pass through the sea on dry land. And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the Lord drove the sea with a strong east wind all night, and made the sea dry land. and the waters parted. And the children of Israel went on dry land in the midst of the sea: the waters were a wall to them on the right and on the left. Thus, the people led by Moses moved to the other side.

The Egyptians have the same. rushed after the fugitives. "The Lord took the wheels of the chariots." That is, most likely, the narrow wheels got bogged down in the soft bottom mud, and the pursuers died, because "morning came and the water returned to its place," burying everyone who did not manage to get out on land.

What is interesting here is that the description of the miracle - "split" water - was mixed with quite reliable information, such as stuck wheels.

Reed Sea

However, some of the scientists asked themselves the question: what if the journey of Moses and the sons of Israel along the bottom of the parting sea actually happened? And in 2002, specialists from the St. Petersburg branch of the Institute of Oceanology of the Russian Academy of Sciences Naum Wolzinger and Alexey Androsov made an attempt to scientifically reconstruct the biblical Exodus. More recently, scientists from the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) and the University of Colorado at Boulder (CU), using computer simulations, found a rational explanation for the episode described in the Old Testament and the Koran.

To begin with, it became clear what, in fact. the sea was "forced" by Moses. For a long time there was a belief that the Bible describes the Red Sea, but a study of early editions of the Book of Books showed that a mistake had crept in here: the words translated as “Red Sea” are actually translated as “Reed Sea” ("Sea of Reeds"). And this name is related to the Nile Delta, which is confirmed by the names of the settlements listed in the Bible, through which Moses passed with his people, until he came to the bank of this wide river.

Wind, wind you are mighty …

Further - even more interesting. The computer model developed by scientists showed that with a sufficiently strong (about 30 meters per second), but quite real for those places wind blowing from the east for at least 12 hours (-the whole night ), the water in the Nile Delta can really part, almost completely exposing the bottom. As a result, a land passage will be obtained with a length of 3.2 to 4 kilometers and a width of about 4.8 kilometers.

This passage will look exactly as it is described in the Bible: with water standing by a wall “on the right and on the left”, and it can exist for about four hours, that is, it is quite enough for a group of people, even on foot, to cross the Nile.

Another question is, how did Moses manage to be in the right place at the right time? Scientists are not yet able to explain this …
