On the beach in the English city of Great Yarmouth, the half-decomposed corpse of an amazing creature resembling a humanoid with a fish tail was thrown out. Needless to say, British journalists covering this incident all as one began to use the word "mermaid" in their reports. "What else could it be?" - local correspondents ask.
Several photographs have already scattered across the World Wide Web, showing the alleged sea maiden in all their glory, and a video showing a mysterious body lying on the sand. Significant signs of decay are visible on the mysterious creature's torso, while its head and tail remain relatively intact. It can be assumed that this creature died a few weeks ago, and all this time was in the water.
The author of the find was a local resident Paul Jones. According to the man, he immediately thought that he had come across the corpse of a mermaid. The Englishman took a couple of pictures of the dead monster, shot the video below, and then contacted journalists. The latter did not immediately believe that someone had found the body of a sea maiden, but Jones sent one of his photos to the newspaper staff, and the paparazzi flew to the beach within an hour.
So far, no one has dared to examine the corpse. Some doubters speculate that a dead seal was carried to the east coast, although it is clear that the corpses of pinnipeds look very different. Maybe it's some kind of mutant?
In addition, skeptics talk about a possible hoax, recalling the Fijian mermaids - popular in the nineteenth century exhibits of all kinds of wandering exhibitions, where onlookers were shown various wonders, including sea ones. The organizers of these exhibitions took dead monkeys, cut off their lower bodies and sewed on fish tails. After that, such chimeras were mummified and covered in some places with papier-mâché to hide the seam. The public was told that these were the corpses of real mermaids.
Of course, the mysterious body found in Great Yarmouth may actually turn out to be a similar "constructor", sewn from several parts of different animals. However, journalists and some meticulous researchers who have already visited the site argue that this is far from a hoax, but rather a joke of nature. And the likelihood that it was the mermaid that washed ashore is very high …
